Hi folks as above -

Having moved slightly up the ladder at work I'm spending less and less time on site, and more and more time staring at a computer screen. Here lies the problem. I'm being told that I'm getting cuddly eek .The hours I work during the week make going to the gym fairly difficult, and the fact that I don't find the prospect of spending an hour in the gym that appealing if I'm honest isn't helping matters. So I'm about to leave the 20's this year frown and was wondering what I could do to:

a) Loose some weight. I'd be happy with half a stone or more.

b) How can I keep it off.

c) Could someone point me in the right direction to a healthy eating site, not a fad atkins diet etc. Something that I could actually print off and use and that was reasonably palatable.

I guess what I really need is someone to get me off my ar$e and get me back into gear, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to find a personal trainer with enough patience!!

Any help greatly appreciated.

Well, I'd say if you really wanted to lose the weight you should just join a gym and get plenty of cardio work in.

If the gym really isn't for you, then probably best to focus largely on the diet side of things (which you should do anyway even if you were going to a gym}.

There are plenty of exercises you can do at home with just some cheap weights and bench. You also have things like running, cycling etc, which can be more entertaining/fun than going to the gym.

I can't take credit for that URL, someone posted it up last night in another thread. It's a really good website, though. Plenty of information on there.

That is also a handy website if you want some ideas of specific exercises.

Use an online calorie calculator to work out your maintenance calories and adjust your diet to be 500 calories below that per week to lose weight.

If you wish to increase exercise, redo the calculator with a higher exercise level and again, take 500 calories per week off.

no need to use the gym, just stop using lifts in the office, car parks etc, learn to walk more

speaking of someone who used to be over 16 stone, it gets well hard to shift when older than 40 and if you can keep slim by not stuffing ur face when younger, u will thank yourself smile

I have a sink that keeps filling and spilling water over

Do i turn the tap off, or bore out the plug hole?

what if the plughole is open and cannot be made any bigger?

Answer: Turn off the tap.

Bye bye overeating.

Factiously yours,

Were you always this pompus, or did you have to do a night course to reach your current standard? Bet your the 1st person to get a call on a Saturday nite for a beer, to regale your friends with your bullet point charm and wit.

if you dont want to join a gym try more excercise at home.
I didnt want to join a gym, several reasons, the time i dont have, the money i dont want to spend every month, and maybe not feeling comfortable with it, i dunno. but i started running, weights in the house etc.

difference i am just wanting to build my strength up, not really loose weight, but might be something you can try. It is a case of disciplining yourself and getting in a routine.
I have tried it so many times in the past, but only this time have a really made a good go of it.

Cheers Ben, this is what I'm currently trying and you're right it's not easy. I hope I'm motivated enough now to follow through with it.

Sitting in front of a PC doing a managerial job is no excuse
If you are motivated to loose weight you will
