Currently in Penang working for a couple of weeks.
I got what I thought were a couple of mossie bites on my foot the other day.
Then a few more.
Then a lot more.
Now I'm not so sure these are bites.
I woke up this morning to find a load over my stomach.
So now they have spread from my feet to just below my chest.

Anyhow, either put my mind at rest and say they're definately mossie bites (even though I've only seen one since I got here), or gimme the number for the centre for tropical diseases smile

Looks more like bed bugs - the bites are much more severe, itchy and painful, generally more widespread. Or sand flies if you've been on a beach.

However, usual mossie protection applies - lots of repellant and a mossie net over the bed. Get somew antihistamines and Eurax cream for the itching.

Thanks for the replys
I dont think it's bedbugs as this hotel is uber posh.
But if it is mossies I'm buggered if I know how to stop em. I Been spraying on the repellent.

He's doomed!.....dooooomed I tells ya! biggrin

tbh, he does look a mess though, I got a few nips prior to locating some insect repellent (I'm sure the Mrs deliberately forgot to pack it for me) but they're almost gone now (4-5 days ago), Cazzer seems to have become an "all you can eat" buffet for the local wildlife.

I'm not sure that has any real relevance.

I stayed at a super posh hotel a while back and the room did indeed have bed bugs, and so did quite a few of the other rooms judging by the complaints.

As already said though, it could also be sand fleas, or if you're really unfortunate then a combination of all three

An anti histimine (hay fever) tablet will take those down very quickly. Piritin, for instance.

I have just showed the pic to a GP colleague who diagnoses erythema multiforme. The target lesions around your knee are classic. There are a large number of causes and may be related to the mossie bites, treatment is varied depending on the cause.

My god I've just read up on Erythema Multiforme....
Thanks for that. Thats me not sleeping for a month now smile

I don't think it is that as I have no other symptoms at all.
The bloody things don't even itch. Not a bit.
But they're now everywhere. Except my groin, which is nice.
The odd thing is I also dont have any on my neck. face, forearms or hands, which seems a bit odd as they're the only bits not covered.....

Hey ho, been to the hotel doc and after saying "Jesus Christ, where the hell have you been to get bitten like that?", he gave me some anti hystamines "Carin" and some cream "Kegunaan Luar Sahaja" for those in the know.

I'll keep ya posted.

Thanks again for the replies folks.

Not itchy? Not bites then. The only other thing I can think of from your description is Pityriasis Rosea - check for the lesions being slightly scaly on the surface. It's not usually itchy, but it can be. Next step would be to see a dermatologist.

You haven't got cold sores have you?

Ok....they're not scaly at all.
They just feel like my normal skin.
Just to add a bit more detail my right foot is swollen a bit too. But I put that down the the travelling (although probably just kiddin myself with that tbh)

I've put an updated pic on from today. This is after two anti Hystamines.
Edited to add: No cold sores. No fever. Not feelin ill at all...just the lurgi.

Got to agree about erythema multiforme then - have you taken anti-malarials, or any other drugs recently?

Sorry, I promise I'm not being awkward but I've taken nothing for months other than the odd headache tablet.
No drugs at all....sorry frown

Just turned out I was dish of the day for the mossies and had a bad reaction to the bits.
Anti hystamines cleared em up after a few days.
