Ok, since October I've had a nasal cold that has just hung around, meaning that I'm snoring
I'm also about one/two dress sizes overweight that I cannot lose, I've lost 2 of the 4 that I put on (anti depressants), but cannot lose that last one (two would be pushing it at my age ()
I've seen the Dr, and tried Beconase nasal spray, the strips over the nose and the ones you melt in your mouth at their reccomendation...
Has anyone tried this? It's an anti snoring ring and uses accupunture to help...
I'm a bit sceptic, but... Now the cats sleep in another room, and Paul wears ear plugs I'm getting desperate (but not as desparate as Sleep Envy!!)

I snore for England and really badly when I first met MrsPBF (or so I'm told,it never troubles me )
Tried the stick on strips - they helped a little.
Tried the mouth sprays - useless.
Being quite ill on the run upto the Wedding - lost two stone - that made a huge difference!
Earplugs - essential!
It's fair to say that Mrs PBF's earplugs are a saviour. Do a search online & get the highest attenuation you can find. Forget the little yellow rollup ones. They're fine for messing around in boiler rooms or cutting down helmet wind noise but when faced with my snoring, they weren't upto it
And sadly, the losing weight was a big thing - but only for me, a rather too overweight bifter! (I could still do to lose another 3-4 stone really ) If you're close to fighting weight it won't make as big a difference.

I think these are the ones we use at the moment http://www.britishsnoring.co.uk/shop/snore_calm_fo... I think we found some even better ones but can't find them again!

The ultimate treatment is a....(deep breath)....uvulopalatopharyngoplasty. Basically an ENT surgeon trims the free edge of the soft palate (the wobbly bit at the back of the roof of your mouth). It's the flapping of that tissue tat gives the snore it's vibration and noise. Excellent curative operation if done properly. Trim too much off and your dinner comes down your nose every time you swallow!
Snoring is the bane of my life. My OH snores terribly. He is underweight. There is no hope.
Ali - I am sure you are not overweight enough for it to have an impact. I put on 5 stone when I was pregnant and I am still 2 stone up. Thing is I snored more when I was pregnant - but I was such a whale I could only sleep on my back! Sleeping on side is better for me

Sorry I didn't mean to imply that you're a blimp - but a small amount of weight CAN make a difference depending on where you're carrying it.
If it's legs, ass, tummy or hips it's unlikely. Maybe a bit more likely if it's your chest. If it's your face, neck, chin then it's very likely i would say.
I had an op a few years ago for a deviated septum (when I was only about 12stone - i'm 6'5" so 12 stone was pretty damn skinny) and it stopped my snoring and various other sleep-related problems I had. (This was long before I had tubby-related snoring issues which exercise and diet have fixed!)
So it might be worth speaking to your doc and asking him to check your nasal cavity.
HTH.

Not sure what to suggest Ali.
My ExH snored like no tomorrow and he wasn't overweight (more muscular). We tried just about everything on the market but it never worked and the last resort was surgery.
I used to start off in our room and then move to the spare room during the night so I could at least get a little undisturbed sleep

I'm not a snorer but I get a blocked nose, these are like Breatheright but work better.
(not very exotic though)

I've tried just about everything on the market since October, just not this ring
What I think I need to do, is get rid of this blooming sniffly cold that I've had since then, I only get it at night/first thing.
I'm sure its not an allergy, as I've changed all the pillows and the duvet! Having the cats with me/out of the room doesn't make any difference either

Hmmmm, have you changed your washing powder or fabric softener at all, or have you started using a different night cream?
Have you tried the antihystimines etc for allergies or sinus trouble to see if they help at all. Or how about some Vics on a tissue and place it inside your pillow case to help keep the nasal passages clear at night?
