I quit smoking last wednesday, so no cigs for seven dayswoohoo. I have been using 25mg nicorette patches and an inhalator. I am on a course and been advised on the different methods of quitting. They suggest that you are more likely to quit using more than one method of nicotine replacement therapy, hence the patch and inhalator.

Patch is working well and just use the inhalator for a boost in the evenings. Problem is I have pretty much all the common side-effects
Headache
Dizziness
Stomach discomfort
feeling sick (nausea)
Sickness (vomiting)
Redness of the skin

I have not been sick but felt like it a few times.

Not sure why I am posting this and there is nothing anyone can do. Just felt good to write it down.frown

I had similar effects with the patches , reduced the strength but still the same and abandoned them. Went onto mints and a gulp of cold water when I felt the urge to reach for the fag packet in an empty pocket. Worked for me and just over 4 years now, just wish I had done it sooner.

Stick with it, and good luck

I have taken the patch off just so I can eat something tonight.

Last night I spend 2 & 1/2 hours preparing and slow cooking a really great Greek stew. Tasted great but I just could not eat it, I froze it as I have just totally lost my appetite.

Are you sure you can use both at the same time?

Patches gave me very vivid dreams.

Patches gave me the trippy dreams and made my arm swell up.

It's to do with nocotine being a toxic substance and as a result is proper fking your skin up, so my doc told me when i went to see him re the swelling, redness and discomfort in my hand

Yep, the dosages are so low that even together you are not getting as much as actually smoking.

I couldn't get on with the patches at all. Tried them several times and never got further than a week. I've been cold turkey since Jan 13th. Although I did smoke a pack on an all day session on saturday whistle, which should perhaps disqualify my from giving advice.

It's usually quite normal to feel dizzy and a wee bit nauseous shortly after applying a new patch, however if you are feeling like this most of the time i would suggest the patch is too strong for you. Depends how many you smoked, but you might find the 10 or 15mg patch is adequate for you, in conjunction with the inhalator!
Keep it up though!

I found that the patches gave me a dead arm when using them there and that after that i wasnt prepared to put them anywhere else and went cold turkey.

I have not been wearing a patch since wednesday as it was making me too nauseous to eat. Not really using the inhalator, 1 cartridge a day maybe.

I still feel nauseous and can't face food. I almost want to smoke some cigs just so I can eat again and feel normal.

Problems subsided since I stopped using the patch. I don't use anything during the day and just use the inhalator a bit in the evening.

2 & 1/2 weeks smoke free.

Over confidence combined with lots of problems on Sunday resulted in me smoking three cigs frown.

So back on the patches, even if they make me feel sick. Better to feel yuck than smoke.
