I hear people forever saying that you get statutory sick pay if you are off work sick or become incapacitated due to accident
i also gather there is employment and support allowance or something.
however, how come people who i know who are off work due to depression or have a bad back etc seem to get more money than when they were working?
they don't or if they do - they had a st job beforehandi also gather there is employment and support allowance or something.

Let me see:
A person I know
IBS is the symptom even though I have it the wife has it and she also has hereditary epiforma spondulitus (forgive the spelling)
Well he gets £1000 per month is JS/ IV benefits+ the car + the housing + the council tax
So we are looking at £2000 Tax free if not more.
Yet we both still work to pay for this st scum. Although I earn more he earns more than my wife for doing fk all and having a bad tummy now and again.

yes i hear they pay for your rent too is there a limit on that, and what about this motability
i know an accountant who has been made redundant and the benefits office have just started paying for the rent on his penthouse!
limit used to be £400 a monthi know an accountant who has been made redundant and the benefits office have just started paying for the rent on his penthouse!
I briefly claimed Child tax credit and council tax allowance when i was going through a divorce and lived on my own.
However they refused to pay my mortgage as they said longterm ex would benefit and that he should have been paying his half anyway.
If you have a genuine disability you can make a claim for Disability living allowance and you can receive this and work as it is not means tested.
and before anyone has a go. i have a son who is disabled and i and my new partner and my ex and my parents paid into the system for years. so i dont feel guilty.
i got CTC for approx one year. at a rate of £995 a month. if i had been renting a house i would have been able to claim a further £400 a month for rent. And they wonder why people dont work.
i was very grateful for this system to support me and my children for a brief time when i could not. I was also quite shocked as to how much we received. and relieved as i desperately needed the support at the time. I am working part time and am being supported by a very loving partner. however i will never forget the support the state gave me when i needed it most.
G/f is between jobs and has discovered that the govt will pay her rent and council tax, as well as travel (car/train) to interviews. Plus about £60/wk sustenance. Not amazing, but keeps her above water while she goes to interviews.
Rent is paid to the landlord, so I immediately offered her my spare room
