Exhibit A: Gillette Fusion blades, currently £7.99 for 4 in Sainsbury's

Exhibit B: Gillette Fusion Power blades, currently £9.99 for 4 in Sainsbury's

Is it me, or are these blades exactly the same aside from one having a blue surround and the other having an orange one? If that's not the case, can anyone explain the differences between the 2 blades?

I also noticed a while ago that they stopped doing 4 packs of Mach 3 and Mach 3 Turbo blades, instead they did 5 packs, but the price went up disproportionately.

The power ones are free to jiggle

I found they don't shave as closely as the boggo one, although they do last much longer for some reason

You can buy blades alot cheaper on the internet if you do a Google Shopping search. I think I found a pack of 4 Fusions for around £5 somewhere. Watch out for the cheap fakes though as they are sh*te

can't help the OP at all but boy am I glad to be out of buying these types of blades.

Based on a recommendation on another thread here I recently bought a Merkur Futur safety razor for £45, and then I bought 100 blades for £8.99!

Closest shave I've ever had in my life and much cheaper than the Mach 3, Wilkinson Quattro etc.

Found this with the WS Quattro blades too.

£9-90 for 8 normal but nearly £11 for the 'titanium ones' which (having tried) dont appear to be any different

Yep, I use single blade safety razors, a decent soap dish and a badger hair brush. The soap has lasted 18 months and is half way through and the razors give a much better shave for a 10th of the price.

Go for a beard.

It saves confusing delimmas like this and gives you something to stroke when you're pretending to be intelligent.

No penis jokes please.

I use Lidl triple blade razors (not the throw away ones)

They're fine. I use them for my head too, very rare that I get a nick. £9.99 for 4 blades is insane, that'd get me 40+ blades.

I have no idea. I am currently using Fusion blades on a Fusion Power body and can see no difference whatsoever either in the blade or the result.

I use Derby blades, every bit as good as the Merkurs in my opinion.

I use the regular fusion blades on my fusion power razor, they work pretty well to be fair so I've never felt the need to change - couldn't tell the difference between the original power blade that came on the razor and the standard fusions either.

To be fair though, sometimes I don't even turn the thing on, it works just as well when it's not buzzing.

Just the Merkur blades, the 10 that came with the Futur, and just got another 10. Suggestions very welcome though!

I know of the Feather blades, apparently you have to be either talented or plain stupid to use them!

Thanks for the info!

sick of paying silly money for Gillette products - do these single-blade safety razors cope with tough beards ok?

I don't have a particularly tough beard but I had about 5 days worth of growth this morning, a task I used to dread with the Wilkinson quattro, but the Futur went through it with zero hassle whatsoever. One of the main beauties of the Futur is that the stubble doesn't clog the blade.

I was dubious before trying it but it really is amazing. One hint though, you do have to change your shaving style slightly from the mach 3 et al style.
