SWMBO has just spent a very unpleasant week end prior to ungoing an internal examnination. Picolax(sp?) is a very effective laxative followed by 24 hours of no food intake, both are a prerequisite for the procedure. All this and the crushing worry of what is a risky procedure, have left both of us drained. I kept very busy in order to hold things together.

Just going out the door to go to the hospital and we get a phone call. The master practitioner carrying out the procedure, the only one apparently, is not available due to family illness.

The whole lead up to the business has to be repeated.

Piss boiling nicely.

At least it's not your crap boiling, unlike poor Mrs Saddlebum.

Sympathies.

With apologies to the OP, but this link takes you to one man's description of the power of Picolax. It is pant wettingly funny. http://www.singletrackworld.com/2009/02/the-picola...

As a counterpoint:

My little boy recently fell off a wall and was rushed to A&E in agony, where he was seen within five minutes.

They suspected he'd broken his neck and he was rushed into X ray and then for scans in the big electromagnetic doughnut thing they have.

He was looked after brilliantly and the nursing staff were terrific.

Well done NHS.

Sorry about your Missus's arse though.

I assume she was having a colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy or endoscopy. Therefore she must have been having problems and these procedures can also detect the beginnings of cancer...so dodgy bowels for a few days/week is a small price to pay, I think!

I think the NHS is great, never had a problem with it except due to underfunding.

Having had similar, I can tell you i'd have it everyday if possible, as the sedative is great and you'll have the best night sleep, ever, afterwards. The risks are minimal and as mentioned can detect all sorts of illness, serious and otherwise. You'll feel nothing and remember very little.

My brother is a doctor and had to have one too, and it was scheduled at the hospital he works at. His comment was "its one thing to moon your mates, its another to wink with the same 'opening'."

The HNS is the biggest cluster f**k in the history, of history. I think that as a patient and having 3 doctors in the family. And they agree.

Sorry to hear that your missus spent the weekend on the bog for no reason

But whats your beef specific to the NHS?

People get sick, even healthcare professionals it seems

Would you like to be treated by a sick nurse (easy at the back LOL)?
Maybe youd prefer your dedicated health care professionals to work even when they are risking their own health for your benefit?

Or on the other hand st just happens
Especially after a night on the Picolax rolleyes

I recently booked my car in for the day but they didnt do the job cos 2 of their mechanics were off sick
I got over it

cheers

I've bookmarked that thread...

An acquaintance of mine had some as part of a procedure, it was 'on trial' at the hospital concerned. They don't send it home with patients now as they had to pay for at least 3 bathrooms to be re-decorated.....

bookmarked the thread for a m8

good while back he decided to go to do weights at gym, he has OCD which means he has to be perfect and do better all the time, starts off pressing 70kg on the sit down thing squatting with his legs, within a week he was well over 140kg

then when it was badly snowing and the like his guts ripped and turned his bathroom into an abbatoir judging by the blood that hit the bog then all over the floor, walls and ceiling...

straight to A&E - apparently something tore and the blood loss washed his bottom nice and clean for the doctor to take a look inside

I have gotten into the habit of reading the leaflet, once had some hayfever pills that mentioned alcohol not good, effect was to triple the effective blood alcohol, one of the other patients ended up raping someone and can appreciate his problem...
