Distal bicep surgery
Discussion
Hi has anyone had distal bicep surgery?
I've partially torn my tendon it happened a month ago and was put on list straight away
I've been to 3 surgery appoitments now and it has been cancelled evertime! after sitting there for nearly 10 hrs! starved and bored beyond belief.
I was told that ideally it needs to be done within 3 weeks, I'm now worried that the success of repair and recovery will be more difficult?
Likely hood is now I won't get a chance for surgery for another 2 weeks as they only do them every other week !
Yes this is the NHS

Typically the surgery is done soon after the injury. Surgery can be more difficult if the tendon is fully torn and retracted since it can adhere to surrounding structures. Then it s difficult to get the length of tendon correct when reconstructing it and it may be too retracted and thus too short. If yours is only partial, you maybe ok as it shouldn t have retracted. although Im not a surgeon I’ve seen a few being done in theatre.
