Do you know the difference between genotype and phenotype?

What are you testing for? What do you expect to do if you find any specific markers of concern?

If you have answers to the above I believe you can get private whole geno sequencing in days now.

For me, the goal is data collection—as much health data as possible to understand potential issues before they become a problem. Most people take supplements or make lifestyle choices based on general advice rather than personalised data, and I’d rather have a more informed approach.

I’ve looked at https://muhdo.com/ for genetic testing, but that only gives a part of the picture. My thinking is to combine genetic insights with a full-body check-up. Some of the private health screening packages in places like Turkey (Memorial Health Group) or Thailand (Bumrungrad) offer extensive blood work, imaging (MRI, CT), cardiac assessments. The cost is significantly lower than in the UK, and they run far more tests than most private clinics here.

The challenge is knowing what to do with the data once you have it. If a genetic test shows increased risk for something like diabetes or cardiovascular disease, but all biomarkers are fine, how much does that change my decisions? That’s something I’m still thinking about—whether to focus on genetic markers or actionable, real-time health data that I can immediately respond to.

As an older guy also looking at HRT this also overlaps, I am learning as I go along.

I’m not uptodate with the science behind genomics overall progress as it’s such a rapidly advancing field, but I my wife works with some of the leads of the UK bio-bank, which is probably the most established genomics database in the world. From what I understand we aren’t anywhere near close to really understanding risk prediction at the individual level based on the science……However what you pay to hear from a private company am sure will be something different smile
