I’m wondering if anyone here has had ERCP to deal with gallstones causing blockages.

What’s your experience been. Good? Bad?

An old friend of mine is being offered that or treatment ursodeoxycholic acid but they’re concerned of possible complications from the procedure or the length of time it will take the acid to break the stones down.

The procedure would be quicker but with what risk?

I'd go with the procedure

It's exactly what they were going to do to me last May when I was admitted via A&E (walked in) with severe cholecystitis and jaundice; however my body cleared the partial blockage by having a horrendous throwing up session 2 mornings later rolleyes

Still had to have the op to remove it 5 weeks later (and still having issues now unfortunately); but it doesn't happen to everyone

Get him to get the procedure and then get the GB whipped out when they can

Oh near.

Not what they’ll want to hear as most say it doesn’t cause issues for most yet strangely, virtually everyone they’ve met in hospital, through friends or family have had issues.

They took UDCA about 15 years ago and that cleared them without issue until now which is why it’s being suggested to them but only as a number 2 option.
