Palliative / EOL Care
Discussion
My ninety five year old Dad was quite fit & active up until a few months ago.
A procedure for a cancerous tumor on his bladder, which has turned out to be inoperable & two TIA's / strokes has seen a tragic decline in his health.
This week, the family decided that palliative care was required, with a prediction of four weeks until EOL.
( He's a fighter...so predicting months, rather than weeks).
We have decided on home care, I have been doing this but support kicks in tomorrow.
Bed, care three time a day... The Dad cupboard resembles a pharmacy.
But, the swiftness of the NHS, Palliative care team & Hospice has been brilliant... I doff my cap to anybody involved with this horrible situation.

Sorry to hear about your dad. Mine passed a few weeks ago from dementia.
He died at home, which was a blessing
The care from the NHS, local authority, Admiral nurse and his GP was outstanding.
I have nothing but admiration for his carers, they were fantastic.
I am glad you have such excellent care, it makes something awful, bearable.

Thank you, & my sympathies to you & your family.
Obviously,, it's 24/7, sleeping with one eye open & all that... But, strangely rewarding, under the circumstances.
Yes, the living room has become his bedroom... But at least people can visit him whenever they like in a more relaxed atmosphere.
( Pretty much bed bound & sleeping all day now though)
