I have two sets of dumbbells, I wanted more weight on my home set so went to pinch a couple of plates from my man-cave set. Turns out they are two different bar thicknesses.

The ones at home are Marcy brand and have thinner bars, and the other set I think are Decathlon.

So is there a standard? Or is it brand specific? I’m not sure Marcy are even still going, I bought them decades ago.

The thick ones are likely Olympic weights.

There are "Olympic bars" which are 50mm for serious stuff

The "Standard" size for most home type bars (Weider etc) is 25mm

However, Decathlon's are 28mm.

Yep I made the mistake of buying into decathlons stuff not realising it’s not the same as standard stuff on the UK market, so pretty much the only place you can get compatible weights and bars is decathlon.
