What exercise can I realistically do after hernia op?
Discussion
As per thread title, how far can I push it?
I'm a normally fit 60 year old, but after two new knees earlier this year and a hernia op last week I've got a bit of a belly for the first time in my life, feeling a little bit flabby and unfit and I'm desperate to do some exercise.
The surgeon said "do absolutely nothing for 2 days, gentle strolls for 2 weeks, then don't lift anything heavy for a further 6 weeks".
As I approach the 2 week mark, I'm hoping to do some kind of exercise even if it's just chair yoga, callesthetics, pool work and cycling. I stupidly didn't ask the surgeon to expand on how far I could push it.
Can anyone advise?

I had an umbilical hernia op. Given the same info.
Day two - seven I was doing long walks
After that started slowly adding in some weights like seated dumbbell curls, seated side lateral raises and gradually built it up.
Never pushed hard but didn't sit around for a few weeks either
Thanks for the info, I had an umbilical one a few years ago and it didn't affect me much, keyhole surgery and a couple of stitches. Day two - seven I was doing long walks

This new one has a seven inch scar from my hip bone to my pubic bone and god knows what under the surface. I'm a bit more wary of bursting it and my guts spilling out like something from a horror film, although I developed a bit of a cold and coughed most of last night and all seems to be still in place this morning. Hopefully I'm mostly healed now.
