Hi all.

58 year old male, no underlying health issues.

Over the past 3 days,.I've had an intermittent pain in my right ball. The kind of pain you get if you've been kicked in the balls, but nowhere as severe and only intermittent. No issues peeing etc..

As getting a GP appointment around here is harder than finding rocking horse poo, I thought I'd ask here first.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Probably best phone NHS on 111, they can make gp appointments or send an ambulance if urgent.

Having recently had my knackers scanned I recommend not looking at Google.

As a result of my googling I was bent over in my bedroom, 3am, using the torch on my iPhone to look through my ball sack as it made a massive shadow on the back of my door. I read that cancer lumps are solid. Other lumps are translucent.

I recommend you report your pain via the local NHS doctors website and you should get a call back the same day. My experience with the NHS was fantastic . Doctor had a feel and within 3 days I was having an ultrasound at the hospital looking at what was a cyst

I had a similar pain to yours a few times before finding a cyst on the top of my left one.
Good luck. Don’t worry, Don’t Google

See the doc asap if you can, and hopefully get a referral to the hospital, in our practice you would get to see the practice nurse far (same day rather than weeks) quicker but whether they can refer you i don't know, no harm in seeing the nurse if similar timescale as he/she could nip along to one of the docs if any on site and maybe get the ball rolling wink

I had similar teste pain many years ago, they did an ultrasound type check on the nads and pronounced all clear, the ache went away on its own, probably caused by back ache which i used to suffer from really badly due to hours bent over car engine bays.

Checking your own nads is fine but you can soon convince yourself something isn't right when in fact all is ok.

Thanks all. Put my symptoms in online and I'll be allocated an appointment if required, once it's been reviewed.

assuming your old chap hasn't been anywhere questionable recently and without taking a peek myself, my money says epididimo-orchitis with that history - provided no lumps suggestive of inflammed cyst. reassuringly you're a bit old for torsion/cancer of the balls. see what your own GP makes of it.

It certainly hasn't been anywhere that it shouldn't have. Thanks, from my brief Google, it does seem that is the most likely culprit.

Hi all.

I'm in a holding pattern at the moment. I did an e-consult and go this back.

Here are my recommendations:
Monitor your symptoms closely over the next 24-48 hours. If the pain worsens, becomes constant, or you develop any new symptoms like swelling or fever, seek medical care promptly.

Try some home care measures:
Wear supportive underwear or an athletic supporter
Take over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen/paracetamol if needed

If the pain persists beyond 1 week or interferes with your daily activities, schedule an appointment via reception for examination.

Perform regular testicular self-exams to check for any unusual lumps or changes.

Red Flags to Watch for:
Please seek urgent medical attention or go to A&E if you experience any of the following:

Severe or constant testicular pain.
Swelling or redness in the testicles or scrotum.
Fever or chills.
Difficulty passing urine or blood in the urine.
Pain spreading to the lower abdomen or groin.
Nausea or vomiting associated with the pain.

If your pain persists, worsens, or if you're unsure, I recommend you make a appointment for further evaluation.

The pain has subsided since Friday and is now probably 1/10 and less frequent than when I posted this. Just monitoring now.

I'll update in a few days.

Thanks all.

Is there any swelling at all? Could it be a hydrocele or varicocele (spelling may be incorrect!)? They can cause the symptoms you describe but I'd have thought (from personal experience) that you'd notice some swelling.

No swelling, no lumps. No pain anywhere else. It kind of feels like the dull ache you get hours after you've been kicked in the nads. But only intermittent, not constant.

I had some similar symptoms and passed a kidney stone a few days later, not saying it is your problem its certainly something to consider but guessing on the internet is never a good thing!

I had a similar discomfort once and as above, mine was also a kidney stone. I literally had weird pains popping up everywhere, even the occasional shooting pain down the old chap! An achey nut in my case was a common occurrence with each kidney stone I had.

Have you changed your diet or started taking any supplements or anything new in the weeks leading up to your first signs of the pain?

I only mention it, as I had a similar discomfort - felt like id been booted in my old chap, the pain in my testicles was as if I'd been wearing extra tight boxer shorts for hours on end. It got to the point after a few weeks that I was keeled over naked in my ex-girlfriends mums house almost in tears.

I had all the checks and it was fine, turns out I'd been taking a gym supplement which just didn't agree with me (It was a pre-workout powder), I stopped it, 0 issues ever since. No idea why it affected my testicles/stomach area associated with a kick in the goolies, but it did!

Hope it all goes pans out well for you mate, disgusting how the NHS and GP's operate these days, makes me thankful for workplace healthcare!

Saw the GP on Thursday. He had a really good feel around for about 5 mins, my nuts, groin and stomach area. He can't feel anything untoward and based on my other symptoms whatever it is, he said it isn't serious. Apparently random testicular pain is relatively common after a vasectomy, even years after the procedure. He's going to get me sent for an ultrasound because as he said "he can't feel everything" but that's to confirm his suspicions that it's nothing to worry about. That should happen "in a few weeks".

He told me to wear tight fitting pants and I told him I was and it seemed to be helping. The pain is more intermittent now than it was 2+ weeks ago.

Feel happy now, but I'll be happier when the ultrasound has been done and I've got a diagnosis.

Cheers all.
