Been having a weird (and weirdly specific problem) for a while that seems to get occurring more frequently, which is getting cramp in my rectus abdominis (typically at the top) whilst training.
It manifests as a sharp pain and one of my (non-existent) six pack being absolutely solid to the point where if I was leaner you'd be able to see it bulging. The most effective relief seems to be just walking it off with my arms raised to stretch. Had it happen yesterday a little lower down and it's still really sore today.
Too high for a hernia, I'm not sure what it could be other than just a muscle cramp. It's not dehydration, because I drink a lot, but I wonder if it could be something as simple as not having enough salt?

Spooky, I have exactly the same thing!
I had assumed the rectus abdominis was a single muscle but I get cram in any of the various 'pads'.
Quite painful and visible, only relief is to bend over backwards.
Went to see my physio as I was concerned it may be some odd hernia.
Have a programme of exercises to strengthen the whole core, not just rectus abdominis.
I had assumed my core got a good workout from full-body lifting generally - not so!
I working through various exercises I'm embarrassingly aware that my core would appear very weak!
