Around 4 years ago I was stung on the back of the neck and ever since have had a small lump there.

A couple of weeks ago this swelled up to nearly a golf ball size, is fairly solid and a bit sore.

I tried my GP and quickly got fed up trying to get an appointment so went to my digital GP with Bupa who has said it needs an ultrasound and I now need to make an appointment with a consultant.

It’s all a bit concerning. I don’t do doctors or illness well and given that my wife is waiting for a date to start chemo I don’t really want to worry her with this on top.

A bit scared and stressed if I’m honest.

When you find out can you let me know as I have one exactly like that which has been niggling the last week or so and has recently got a bit larger.

I too tried to get a doctor's appointment and got offered a phone call in three weeks.

So I just waited for my 6 monthly blood test results for my testicular cancer check up and figured they would flag anything untoward...

Looks like it could be a Lipoma.

Always see them being removed on that Dr Pimple Popper programme.

I’ve got similar, only much larger and I’ve had it for about 10/15 years.

Been through full diagnostics (ultrasound & CT), consultants not inclined to do anything about it as it’s causing me any issues and may cause more issues by trying to do something with it.

If you’re concerned get it checked but it might be nothing.

Great TV seeing these being excised.

It does. I had one removed a couple of years back, NHS don't cover it though, had to go private

Does it feel attached to something under the skin or can you move it about abit?
Something attached is more concerning.

Strangely enjoyable, so long as you’re not eating at the same time.

Get back to your GP, hopefully just a subcutaneous cyst, common on neck/shoulders.

Don't hang around getting it looked at. I have a few of those lumps around my body and the location (arms mainly) has never bothered the docs although I saw a specialist about it for my own peace of mind. Fast forward a few years I developed a lump on the side of my neck and it took months to get looked at, which turned out to be cancer of the lymph nodes and tonsils. All sorted now a couple of years on but I wish I had been a bit more forthright getting it scanned earlier, which might have made my treatment a bit easier...but who knows. I am sure yours is something minor too but don't hang around and pay for a scan yourself if you need to.

Get it checked out. My son found two lumps a couple of years ago, turned out to be CLL, unusual in younger adults, but don't leave it.

Agreed. Put food away and switch on.

As above, cyst of some sort probably. They rarely turn, but...

My old labrador has them all over her body, vet said to leave them. Woof!

Try telling the doc you have found a lump. It’s funny how quickly you get an appointment.

This is great advice. Particularly with your wife's situation.
Jump in asap. Have the lump appraised. Rather than worry.

For the record, I had a cyst, which I ignored until it burst.
And needed surgery / daily dressing of the wound for a month.

I should have had it looked at; would have saved the visit to A&E, and the post-procedure palaver.
