Where are you? Only time I've heard the term "chiggers" is in the Mid West of the States. Annoying little bds, but personally I found the mosquitoes an order of magnitude worse. The body seems to get used to them after a while. I found after a week or so I got much less of a reaction to them.

I was using 'chigger 'as a catch-all, really. Wh8ch I now realise wasn't very helpful . I'm in Warwickshire, but have had the same thing in SW France in the past. It seems to be a product of walking the dog in long grass whilst wearing shorts, but they only tend to come up badly the following morning. We've done a full sweep and there's no evidence of bed bugs, even though the bites only appear at night.
Generally I can handle mosquito bites, and only get one or two at most. So this is chiggers, sandflies or some other yet-to-be-named critter that hangs out in the grass.
I got a cluster on my knee two or three days ago. The itching has stopped, although the red marks are still there. But now it's over both feet, and up both calves, and the itching is several times more intense.
