I think I've got COVID
Discussion
I've been feeling crap since Sunday. Googling the symptoms suggests the latest variant of CV19 - basically a mild headache, constantly switching from feeling hot and clammy to freezing cold, aches and pains all over, loss of taste, loss of appetite, runny nose, it hurts to cough. It's like a mild case of the flu.
How long will it last?
Do I need to go to the GP?
What can I do to ameliorate the symptoms?
Paracetamol takes the edge off but only lasts for an hour.
Thanks for any advice and suggestions.

I had it a couple of weeks ago. The overwhelming symptoms were extreme fatigue and shivering (sometimes uncontrollably)
And then THE COUGH. Jesus christ that was so annoying. It was like someone stuck a feather down my throat. It came on without warning and also during the night which meant disrupted sleep leading to more tiredness.
Took a couple of weeks to disappear. Just gotta get through it I'm afraid.

Vitamin D has been shown to reduce issues associated with Covid.
Very high dose Vitamin D of a certain form has (IIRC) been shown to be taken up by the body quickly (as compared to 'standard' forms of vitamin D that take longer to build up in the body) and therefore be more suitable for dealing with an acute infection, but I can't remember which version is which.

Thanks Badda and others. The NHS website suggests taking Ibuprofen but I'm sure I read somewhere that this wasn't recommended
I had 1500mg of Vitamin C earlier, I'll try and find some Vitamin D.
Thanks again

Are you up-to-date with all your covid jabs and boosters? See your GP, s/he may be able to give you a booster top-up.How long will it last?

I thought I was. They normally text me to let me know but I've not had any reminders / messages?
I assume it's too late to bother now?
You'll have to convince them you are "vulnerable" then they'll give you one, or pay for one privately, assuming you are under the age threshold.I assume it's too late to bother now?

Either way, no point seeking additional injections now - assuming you have Covid, your body will be gaining immunity to not just the spike proteins, but the other various parts of the virus.
Any mRNA injections now would just be turning your body into a spike protein factory for whichever variant they constructed it for (likely an older variant, not the current variant(s)) and be pointless when you already have more comprehensive infection-derived immunity.

Confusion over - you just read somewhere that it IS recommended (the NHS website) who I am sure, you would presume, have some semblance of understanding of the situation. Discussion on the various vitamin D forms within the body:

I understand that Vitamin D3 supplements are the cholecalciferol version and that taking Vitamin K2 at the same time helps draw the calcium into the bones and reduces potential issues of calcification of the arteries.

The above link notwithstanding the majority of websites suggest Ibuprofen is ok

I reckon I had it a few weeks ago. I didn't test myself, as I just thought it was a bad cold until it knocked me out. I'm in the "vulnerable" group, so am dosed up on jabs and not had it before, so didn't know what to expect. It laid me up in bed for a couple of days, which is not normal for me, as I get bored lying in bed and end up wandering round being grumpy and spreading germs. The main thing besides the sore throat was the tiredness though, which I am still suffering from now. The annoying thing is I think I caught it at the doctors, as I went in on the Wednesday after Le Mans for an ear problem and I was only in there for 5 minutes !
