Left knee was injured in the past which required ACL repair, trimmed meniscus and microfracture. This was 2014 and generally been OK since but of course not perfect.
3 weeks ago I had a bad landing on a skydive - essentially I braked too early which meant I felt from a height of say 10 feet. I couldn't get my knees together and they sort of spread outwards.
In the days after I had some pain in my back - I imagine from the shock of the landing to the muscle - no issues with the knees.
After about 7-8 days I started getting what I would call irritation in my right knee - when bending back - the back right side feels like something not right. At the front there is also some irritation - it feels like more on the skin TBH. No swelling, instability or major pain.
Due to this I arranged a private MRI scan (because I know things to take forever on the NHS)
My left knee was generally OK.
Yesterday I woke up to find my left knee massively swollen like it had suffered some trauma. No pain or instability.
I was starting to get some pain in my lower back which I wondered was down to my gait being affected by my right leg not walking properly. I wondered/hoped if the left knee has blown up because its being used in a way its not used to for 10 years.
I had the MRI scan yesterday and will hopefully see a surgeon soon but any operation which is private could still be months away and an NHS operation is currently 52 to 60 weeks!!!
The swelling has gone down a little today but still noticeably affecting my walk.
Any thoughts on this left knee? I am hoping its not going to stay swollen because when it was not swollen the right knee was irritating but I could get by. With both knees now being funny its a pain.
I know also swelling can cause muscle loss. My left hams and quads were very tight anyway because of my gait. So I don't know if the swelling could also be cause by them being irritated by my new gait.
