Has anybody tried it, I’ve never felt like the session is doing anything, it’s as if I just have my eyes shut, with no other sensation.

Any experience?

Results?

I didn't go into a deep trance, but came away very relaxed almost ethereal. I learned some useful relaxation techniques too.

A pal tried it to quit smoking, it didn't work. I suspect he wasn’t ready to quit.

Both my wife and I used hypnotherapy (NLP) to quit smoking 20 years ago - worked very well. One 60 minute session and we both stopped instantly. A mate tried it, failed miserably, and still smokes. I believe you already need to really want the outcome for it to work.

My sister runs a Hypnotherapy practise, she underwent all of the various training some years ago now. She is NCH registered and insured.

She runs session online too. I'd say Google her name, but it is Kate Middelton :-) so Google KM Hypnotherapy and you can see her details and reviews.

She does take smoking clients, but focusses more on those who have experienced trauma etc.

Might be worth an exploratory call.

I started the thread as I’m currently using a downloaded session for a situation I’m going currently going through.

I never feel hypnotised, I’m constantly thinking about the problem, and other random things.

I do feel relaxed, though. Although I could open my eyes, I never do.

I’m feeling better than I was about the situation…

I did have a friend who had a session to quit smoking.

After he reported that he was never hypnotised, and it was a waste of money.

He never smoked again…

Not ashamed to say that in my youth I suffered with anger issues that would often manifest with the consumption of alcohol. Finally had enough so I tried hypnotherapy, it worked. You have to approach it with the right mindset, an open mind, you have to truly want to change whatever it is you're aiming at.

Mine was just an oldskool .mp3 download, I'd listen to the session alone in my room in an evening (back in the living with parents days). During one session I had a proper 'out of body' experience. I was looking down at myself on the bed, I remember my mother calling me for something, her voice sounded distant, and I couldn't pull myself out of the trance/session, as much as I tried, I couldn't wake myself up. Obviously managed to in the end, but it took some effort!

Give it a go, you've got nothing to lose, but know what you want out of the sessions before you begin.

Thanks for your post smile

How often did you listen to it for, and how far down the line did you have the deep trance?

I think I’d better add that just before Covid I saw a quite expensive therapist, I went originally because I can’t chat women up, she made no progress on that, she did explain that was going to a long run, though.

However, she did clear me of those anxious thoughts that creep in when you first wake up.

Can't remember fully as it was a good 15yrs back now, but I do remember I listened every other evening for a few weeks. Once I felt it was working I put myself back into the situation whereby I'd get angry (drinking, basically), and I never had the same anger issues. I haven't suffered from them since in the same way. It was probably a combination of the hypnotherapy, maturing, and understanding my alcohol limits better, that all combined into my anger outbursts not returning.

Whatever triggers I was experiencing in my early 20's, the hypnotherapy helped me to address them in some way.

Interesting, thanks.

I’m getting nowhere near feeling I’m in any sort of trance?

I think you have to seperate therapeutic hypnotherapy from stage hypnotism.

Stage hypnotism means a trance, going 'under', etc.

AIUI, that's not a pre-requisite for therapeutic hypnotherapy. It's more of a sub-conscious thing.

I tried it for a while for a particular issue I was having. Like you, I didn't feel like I was 'under' so left feeling a little like it hadn't worked.

But they can give you sub-conscious tools to use. Do these tools work because your mind wants them to, rather than the hypnotherapy making them work? Beats me but if it works, it works.

I wouldn't do it again, but I wouldn't write it off for someone looking for a solution to a psychological problem.

Was that just the one session you had?

When I say ‘trance’ I mean I don’t feel different from a normal lay on the bed.

I downloaded the app last Thursday, have listened to it twice a day since.

Do I think it’s working? I think it is, difficult to be sure ATM.

I had a couple of sessions. In person too, not via headphones.

I didn’t ‘feel’ different either. I felt relaxed, but not ‘out of it’
