I’ve had pain in my chest for the last few months. I’ve had a bug for the last 6 months, mainly in my lungs.

The pain itself is in the centre of my chest, about an inch or two below my nipples.

I have zero pain at rest, it doesn’t really come on when I work out with weights. It comes on when I walk, though. If I walk at 4 mph the pain will be about a 5 or 6, if I drop to a stroll at 3.5 mph it’s fine, unless I climb. It’s also brought on by a hot bath.

I reported to A&E about a month ago, and was kept in the cardiac unit overnight, but nothing was found. The A&E Dr had mentioned angina, but the cardiac team didn’t..

During the last 6 months the only thing the Dr’s have found is that I’m deficient in vitamin D, and I’m currently 2 weeks into an 8 week booster course.

Any ideas?

Interesting, I’d say the pain was an inch or 2 deep, rather than at the surface?

I’ve obviously been coughing a lot, and work my chest 1-2 times a week…

My symptoms weren't quite textbook either. My pain was worse where my ribs met my spine and inter costal that's the cartilage between the ribs. Mine was improved by movement so lying down was worse for me. Coughing a lot wouldn't help. What's the lung infection you've had for 6 months all about? Do the medics know about that or recommended treatment?

The coughing could be silent acid reflux, I had that treated last year after posting about it on here. Such an improvement to my wellbeing getting that sorted. No more chronic coughing day and night.

Possibly stop the chest exercises for a while and taking Ibuprofen for a few days or week.

You should get a referral to a cardiologist and have ECG graphs interpreted. Good luck with the waiting list!

Had that about a month ago, a night in CICU…

They mentioned a noninvasive angiogram, but didn’t perform one.

Just an update.

I’ve been ill all over winter, obviously I had this pain in my chest too.

During all the investigations the only thing detected was a deficiency in vitamin D, got put on a booster course, and the pain has gone.

Leads me to think it was muscle pain in either my heart or lungs, muscle pain being one of the main symptoms of low vitamin D.

So the doctors were correct.
I'm not surprised, I was in the same boat a few years back, only worse, much worse.

Sorry, I meant they had no idea what was causing the pain.

Supplements yes, the sun on its own isn’t enough, it’s an age related condition, unfortunately.

Google the symptoms of vit D deficiency.
I had similar symptoms but worse but there can be more than 1 cause so it's unlikely the doctor will get the correct diagnosis immediately.
The doctor must have thought there was a possibility of deficiency to give you the blood test .
I take supplements in winter but none at all between April and September because I get out in the sun as often as possible and I've paid for the tests to make sure my levels are right and they are.

Any supplement in particular that you’d recommend?
