So you have a choice nose or mouth, pick one.

What are pros and cons of each?

Whatever you pick, take sedation if it is offered to you!
I haven’t tried the nasal option, and wouldn’t ever because I had a nasal-gastric tube inserted once and wanted to die as it was so uncomfortable.
I have had a couple of endoscopies - not too bad but had a sore throat for a while after each one.
Did I say take the most sedation offered to you?

Go mouth. It’s easier to soothe a sore throat.

As above, sedatives if you can. It’s simple but not nice.

Definitely go for sedation. I didn't for an endoscopy once and just kept hurling through out the procedure. I had to rest on the bed for 15 after to get my senses back. Truly awful.

I wouldn't (and haven't) gone for sedation. I have had multiple gastroscopies (via throat) and while not exactly pleasant, they aren't *that* bad!

Also, I'd rather be in for 30 minutes then on my way home, rather than be in there for hours and arrange for someone to drive me home.

Go for sedation if you like, but don't be overly worried about the procedure!

Mouth. I didn't go for sedation as I needed to drive home. Apart from lots of heaving for 10 minutes it was bearable

The worst part after was the dangly bit at the back of my throat (uvula?) which got cross and swelled up a bit afterwards. Then it felt like I inhaled/swallowed it while driving home. Interesting at 60mph before I worked out what it was..

The guys saying mouth have you had the transnasale procedure? Surely not

I had mouth and it was fking awful, just get a buddy to shove a hose pipe down ur throat for a similar experience.

Trans nasale, no sedation, no gagging and and went for a lunch about an hour later.
No sore throat or anything,

They tried a nose look on me and I fainted. So they had to do a throat camera, they offered sedation or a throat spray. I opted for throat spray but wish I didn't, it was both aniseed and banana and was uttey foul.

Camera itself was not too bad, uncomfortable and weird as you gag a bit to begin with but way better than nasal.

I had a trainee helping too and they took a load of samples from my stomach which wound up my reflux something chronic for weeks after.

All in all it's not fun and if I did it again I'd not bother with the spray.

I had the nasal version just over a year ago. I wasn’t expecting to have the procedure, so it was sprung on me a bit! I didn’t have any form of sedation and, although it wasn’t a procedure I would like every day, it was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. In fact, once the camera was removed, the specialist was quite happy to show me the footage and explain what was going on.

This was my experience. They tried mouth and I gaged and gaged. They had to stop. Went and got it done through the nose a month or two later and it was painless and no bother, just a little uncomfortable and weird seeing your insides on the monitor!

I think the nose has it, the dentist poking around is just about tolerable so 3' or 4' further on is not going to happen unless I am out cold. Tried to call them to arrange and will they pick up the phone, nope...

I had it through the nose, apart from it being a bit ticklish it wasn't that bad.

Kind of reminded me of that film Total Recall when Arnie uses that tool to pull the tracking beacon out.

Same here but it did have me bouncing off the bed while the shoved it past my voice box. They had a camera and were taking a biopsy, defo not nice. The second time was easier as just a camera. They discovered I had piles, lol. ;-)
