Where possible I will self diagnose and try and deal with any health issues before engaging my GP.

I've started wheezing; a lot.

It started several weeks ago when I noticed a slight rattling in my chest. Thought not much of it, but perhaps a bit bronchial? Thought, like most ailments, it would pass. It didn't. It progressively got worse. Now I can feel my voice is a bit different and I can feel it pulling on my chest a bit. The wheezing is there on exhaling, but more so at night; it's almost like clockwork: 4am/4.30 my chest/throat is whistling even after I've exhaled.

I do not smoke (haven't done for over a decade) and I don't work in a dusty environment. A mate suggested it's the '100 day cough' which someone else called the three-month cold.

Could it be it COVID related (haven't done a test) or a chest infection? Breathing is okay, and I'm not getting short of breath as such, but I can feel I'm not at full pelt.

Trying to cough the lung butter out but, in the words of Blain Cooper, it's, 'dug in like an Alabama tic'.

Struggling to make the connection between the two. That said, I've suffered reflux for as long as I can remember.

Id start with the GP, ours runs a chest clinic, manned by a paramedic.

Pretty good too, will carry out initial examination then recommend appropriate course of action.

Certainly see a GP, it could be pulmonary fibrosis or something else that you don't need.

I had almost identical symptoms and similar smoking history (gave up 8 years ago). I would strongly recommend a GP visit. In my case it turned out to be COPD.

Definitely a link between wheezing and acid reflux, particularly silent reflux.

See the GP. Breathing problems could be lung, HEART or even cancer. Is it worth the risk?

As others have said, see your GP. You have done the typical bloke thing and ignored it, hoping it will go away and it hasn't.

Best get it checked out.
