I had an endoscopy on 18th April, which revealed that I have a hiatue hernia and two very small duodenal ulcers. The next day I had a kind of fainting blackout which lasted around 20 seconds, and when I completely came to, my hands and legs were shaking. Two and a half weeks ago, I ended up in A&E, having a full set of bloods, an ECG (abnormal), spent four hours plugged in, then released. On Friday 9th February, I had an angiogram, which was absolutely clear and showed my arteries to be clear and working.
Since the endoscopy, I have put on 4.5kgs, despite eating less (been having two meals a day for the past ten years) and I also have trouble going to the loo once a day, despite being a regular two to three visits all my life.
I went to see my GP yesterday and he is convinced that these events are not linked.

I can’t think what mechanism of injury the endoscope could have caused to trigger those symptoms so would agree with dr.
What was abnormal about the ecg?

Yes, Oprazomole, two x 40mg, one before each meal.

Not sure, I haven't had an appointment for the cardiologist yet. There was something mentioned about "left bundle branch"?

When I had my Endoscopy they found a Hiatus Hernia and 5 ulcers and was put on 40mg Omeprazole twice a day. Another Endoscopy 4 months later showed that the ulcers were now healed so I am now on 20mg Omeprazole once a day.
I was like you, used to going to the toilet 2 to 3 times a day , now just once a day, which is better for me. No weight gain. My next Endoscopy is in July and if everything is OK I am going to ditch the Omeprazole, it is not good to take it for a long time. My cousin took it for over 4 years and ended up with IBS and I definitely don't want that.

Glad it isn't just me, I never believed it was co-incidence.. Did your stomach/belly swell up near the sternum and did the hernia affect your ability to swallow, particularlt the large capsules?

No swelling that I noticed and no problems swallowing the tablets or anything else. The only noticeable side effect I get from the Omeprazole is a lot of wind which I can put up with for now.

Potentially a left bundle branch block (electrical not plumbing). A few reasons these can occur, if found incidentally then likely degenerative.
