I’ve just been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and have recently invested in the above blood sugar monitoring sensors which link to my phone and give constant blood sugar readings. It’s a great system and works well.

However despite that, I think £25 for a sensor which lasts only two weeks is a little steep.

Does anyone use a similar setup that might be a little more economical?

Dexcom ONE is an alternative but is slightly more money, I think. I use Freestyle Libre but I am Type 1, so get it free on the NHS.

It is expensive.

I think it is really useful for a type 2 diabetics too. But maybe use it periodically to experiment over a two weeks to see what different foods/ exercise regimes do to your blood sugars. And then learn from that data. Are you injecting insulin yet??

You might be able to reverse the type 2 diabetes if recently diagnosed with a few lifestyle changes. My dad managed this a few years ago

My O/H is an insulin dependant Type 2 diabetic and uses a Libre 2 to monitor her glucose levels. It's a very good system but she has had a number of sensor failures but they've been replaced without problem. Because of health complications she has them prescribed otherwise I doubt we'd be able to afford them for regular use.

BTW - the sensors don't measure blood sugar so aren't directly comparable with finger prick testing. They measure glucose levels in interstitial fluid, it's important to appreciate the difference:
