Is it all marketing hype or does it reap any benefits?

A friend was going on about this the other day saying how great it was.

I was surprised it was real as their adverts couldn't look like more of a scam if they tried - (To me they look just like the fake Martin Lewis ads with some celebrity pushing something dodgy.......)

Apparently you have to send them some poo in a box as well.

(but I'm one of those people that don't like the idea of a private company having access to any private information about me - I put them in a similar category to the "DNA in a box" type companies - why any sane person would send their DNA to a 2-bit company is beyond me, this is the same)

I'm out.

I've just googled for their privacy notice, and stumbled into this page.

https://health-study.zoe.com/privacy

WTF is this about.....related to the nutrition bit but not quite the same....

But the actual zoe nutrition privacy policy is here - https://zoe.com/privacy-policy

Again - it's a no from me.

There is only one diet that works IMHO, less calories in than calories used.
Life style changes trump all the fads..

I haven't done a Zoe test but I have read Tim Spector's book and it makes some interesting points about diet, more specifically about processed food and the importance of a varied diet to ensure a healthy gut micro-biome. One important thing these days is that not all calories are equal from different food sources (and not necessarily for different people as well)... one example they use is tha what at breakfast causes one person's blood sugar to spike might not have the same effect on someone else.

I'm certainly intrigued at some point to give it a try.

I have done this and liked it - I think there is another thread about it too.

It certainly is a more educated and personal approach than the traditional diets. I am a fan.

People rattle that out all the time on here but do you know how your body reacts to carbohydrates? Or fatty foods? Do you know precisely how changing the order of the foods you eat benefits you personally? Do you know how well your gut is performing?

Unless you have done Zoe you don't. You can just go in to a calorie deficit to lose weight or you can learn how your own body works and then eat accordingly. I think the latter approach involves less guesswork and is more sustainable.
