Bloody pain in the bum this.

Yet another winter viral sinus infection has left me with woolly hearing in both ears. One worse than the other. I can hear fine, but both ears are partially woolly

This is not wax, it is more internal than that and I am very wary of using saltwater sprays too much as it can bring back the infection if you persist.

Anyone got any weird cures or stuff they might be able to offer, I try pinching the nose and blowing a bit but only one ear reacts, the other is too blocked. Are there any home brews or medications anyone has used for praps a Eustachian tube infection maybe or something similar?

My local health pros are fairly easy at rolling out sinus sprays etc without pursuing it further it can often last for weeks without clearing. Has happened before obviously.

Heated olive oil, pour a few drops into the ear.

My mum used to do this when I was younger and had a blocked ear.

I don't know if it would work for what your experiencing though.

Hassle your doc if it's ongoing, you might need to see the ENT people.
And I would be very cautious of home brewed solutions and old wives tales, you can too easily screw up your hearing for good.

Look up the ottovent system and balloons. Worked wonders for my son. He had dull hearing in both ears and after a week of using this it cleared a lot.

Sadly where I live there are no doctors available it is just a health centre and I work miles away from there so might have to try something else.

This happened last year too and was just told to keep using saline solution, it worked eventually but I left it too long initially, this has been over a week already and was made worse by antibiotics, it feels like fluid behind the ear drum, or in the canal there.

Nothing you can really do.

But how do you get referred to a specialist, if you do not have a specific doctor!!

The ottovent does exactly that, my son had fluid in the tube behind his eardrum. It worked and drained it. It’s available on Amazon
