Why am I so cold all of a sudden?
Discussion
Morning all,
Bit of an odd one this, but wondering if the PH experts can shed more light on it.
Historically, I've always been a very "warm" person. I was the one who would be in light clothing fighting to turn the heating down/ turn the aircon up in the office when other people who I would term as "lizards" were dressed in layers of jackets and still wanted the place to be like a sauna. I was the one who would be wearing a t-shirt when visiting the parents house whilst they were dressed in jumpers.
I moved out to my own house a couple of years ago, and last winter when it was very cold the house sat at about 10-12 degrees inside, this was slightly chilly but I coped perfectly fine.
In 2023 I turned 31, and this winter it's like something has "snapped" inside me. I moved office in the summer and the new office hasn't got great heating. No problem, surely? But no - despite wearing multiple layers I still sit here shivering unless my colleague plugs a mobile heater in. At home, despite this winter being incredibly mild compared to last year, I have to run the heating until the house is at least 15 degrees. When visiting the family, instead of complaining it's too hot for me, I've now turned into one of these "lizards" that basks in the warmth instead of complaining about it.
I'm just struggling to feel warm most of the day now.
What's changed? Have I suddenly "got old" over the course of summer 23? Or is this a sign of something requring further investigation?

Are you eating less / dieting?
I'm the same as the OP, but this is the root cause for me. Currently trying to get lean, sitting at around low teen body fat %, and eating in a calorie deficit and I always seem to be cold at the moment.I’ve lost nearly three stone. I’ve gone from someone that is always hot to having cold hands on a regular basis and needing more clothes. Very strange after 60 odd years to change like this.
Ta for the replies, I'll look up thyroid issues!
In terms of eating - I wouldn't say I've consciously changed diet, and still have the same "dad bod" I've had since being a teenager. On weekdays after work I tend to cook a pasta dish for expediency, and have larger/fancier meat dishes at the weekends - and it's been that way for the 3 years I've been flying solo. I have tried to cut back a bit on the amount of wine with dinner and the amount of cheese after dinner, and I've noticed I've gone down almost a notch in belt size - but this has been over the course of 2023 and certainly hasnt been drastic AFAIC.
