Hi all, suffering with this badly today, to the point I had to cut the day short and come home as walking was too painful.
Basically bad arch pain in my feet, if I push them with my thumb they feel bruised and tender . I thought it might be plantar fasciitis but I have no heal pain whatsoever.
Also really bad pain today in the balls of both feet under toes next to little toe. I thought I’d fractured a bone it was that bad.
Question is, does this sound like planter fasciitis if I don’t have heal pain?
Thank you

Could still be plantar fasciitis, I had this recently mostly in the arch of my foot and not so much in my heel, and it lasted a year before going as suddenly as it came.

Raised insoles in my shoes helped lessen the pain, I used the half length ones as they fit better in most shoes without needing to remove the insoles that come with the shoe.

Stretching the arch of the foot by standing on the edge of a step/stair (facing upwards) on just the balls of your foot, with heels hanging off the edge, then lowering your heel as far as you can before raising as high as you can, this really helped for a while, but had to keep doing it through the day.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll get some ordered tonight and have a look at doing some stretches too.
I wonder if having a deep tissue massage would help on my calves?

Definitely sound the same as I had, put up with it for few years, tried insoles, chiropodists etc. didn’t really work.
Watched a quack on YouTube, he blamed processed food and excessive sugar/ poor quality carbs. Cut the lot out, ate only plain meat or fish with spinach or kale, one decent meal a day and within a few weeks it was gone and has stayed gone for the last two or three years.
Dr sten ekberg was the guy on the tube, give it try.

Get superfeet orthotics either “blue” or “green” - the green need a bit more room in your shoes
Stretch calf and hamstrings

I found that I needed the highest arched insoles I could get to give maximum support, I tried quite a few but two of the ones that helped the most were these..

Stretch everything out and maybe visit a physio if it persists rather than going straight for insoles that you have never needed before.

I’ve had both the heel pain (needle up your heel pain) and arch pain (arch about to break in 2).

The inner soles suggested helps no end. I don’t get it now. I also wear new balance shoes, not fancy shoes every day. A lot more forgiving!

It might be gout. Have a blood test done at your surgery.

probably not plantar fasciitis - pain under the ball of the foot, around the next to the little toe area, can be a mechanical overload, possibly causing some pinching of the nerve between the 3rd and 4th toes - if the nerve is irritated the pain goes very quickly when you stop walking. if the discomfort lingers you may have irritation of the metatarsal joint its self. both of these are the product of mechanical issues, and so stretching muscles on the bacls of your legs is a goos starting point. then add orthotics as I mentioned earlier. .

shoes which are too tight / short / narrow can also cause the irritation.

Gout doesn't usually go for both limbs, but could be. I get it in my feet and ankle. Most awful pain.

Just ordered some insoles for my work boots and a pair of Hoka running trainers for walking in everyday. Fingers crossed they help.

Arch pain mainly on the right foot but the pain under toes in both, just ordered insoles with higher arch and metatarsal pads for work boots and a new pair of running trainers for everyday wear as my normal trainers hurt too much at the moment.

Thanks for the reply, started stretching and ordered insoles and trainers. Fingers crossed it helps.

forgot to mention re trainers: Brookes ghost would be a safe bet , but generally a decent heel drop is helpful, as super flat shoes load up the front of the foot when you have tight calfs.

take any footbeds that come with shoes out and replace with insoles, eg superfeet
