I know we shrink in height as we age (I'm 60) but this seems ridiculous.
When I was late teens I seem to remember I was 5ft 10,or at least that's what I've always thought I was.
Fast forward to about 6 years ago and a few women from OLD remarked I wasn't as tall as I said.
Soon after I went to the doctor for a check up and discovered I was 5ft 8.
Today I've been the doctors again for another check up and I'm 5ft 7 !!!..... although I've measured myself at 5ft 7 1/2 smile
It won't be long before I'm getting a job alongside Snow white in pantofrown

Measure in the morning when you get up. You'll be taller then!

It could be posture.

Look at the Alexander technique and or pilates.

Or a sideways curvature of the spine. That should be easy to spot but someone has to look in the first place. smile

I'm 66, used to be 5'7.1/2" now 5'6". Age related compression of spinal discs is the cause in my case and no doubt there is some long bone shrinkage too. Friend who is 67 used to be 5'10", now 5'8". Definitely not related to posture in our cases. We do a lot of static hanging from a bar, pull ups etc and concentrate on upright posture. I can gain half an inch afterwards. A few more years and I'll pass for a garden gnome. hehe

What's worse, your BMI goes up even if your weight stays the same.

My old man was 6’2 in his prime. He turns 66 next February and I don’t think he’s even 6ft anymore, as I’m 6’3 and appear considerably taller than him now.

The extra weight of the state pension in his wallet will leave him even shorter. Doubt he'll care though. smile

6ft? I wish!

Similar age to the OP. When I was in my teens I was 5' 10" and I was often called "lofty"
Now though I am 5'8" yikes

I used to be 10 stone, I'm now 12 stone and so with the decrease in height I've gone from being skinny to the verge of overweight according to BMI ......I really think a career in panto beckons if the trend continues lol

I raise you with… Police pension laugh Maybe that’s why he’s lost so much height, plus two hip replacements probably haven’t helped!

I'm 6'4" and can't wait to start shrinking tbh. If I can stop at about 5'11" that'd be ideal laugh

I don't believe there's anything you can do to reverse height loss.
It's s just a case of the discs between the vertibrae squashing up over time..... unless you have osteoporosis.
Incidentally dead hangs fk my shoulders up

A good friend was concerned by their height loss and joined some kind of yoga class. He regained 1.5” a 2” I recall. He kept it up for years and still does it, he remains 6’ 1” as he approaches 60.

Why not give it a go and I understand the scenery at a yoga is a considerable bonus!
