No longer a section on the BBC website. Can't remember the last time I heard of someone with it. Predictions of future further variants seem to have been wide of the mark....

Has it been absorbed into the general list of occasional ailments or have we managed to rid ourselves of it?

No, I have it and I feel like death, the first two times I had it it was nothing more than a mild headache.

They are muck spreading around here which I can't smell so every cloud and all that.

It will never go away.
We just need to learn to live with it.
Im sure it will come back properly over winter.
Like if you feel unwell take sick days. It was a bit odd being paid to stay home for 10 days when any other sickness you had to come in with.

I had it 3 weeks ago, still haven’t managed to completely shake the cold symptoms. 3rd time I’ve had it, not as bad as the first but worse than the 2nd.

For most life moves on, for a few it will never go away, I know of at least one person who still talks about it constantly now, tests her family regularly etc, in fact just put on FB a week or so ago her family are isolating again, to my knowledge none of them are vulnerable to it particularly.

I did find some covid testing kits at the back of the cupboard under the sink at the weekend, it amused me for some reason, clearly been dumped there by the mrs

I'm really quite curious how you ever thought we might have managed to rid ourselves of it.......

Me, MrsD and miniD all have it right now for the first time. Suspected result of a 4 hour flight from Tenerife just over a week ago. Tired and aching, but that's about it, so can't complain too much. Testing positive every other day or so, hopefully clearing sometime soon.

I did see mention of some new super virulent strain of it was "sweeping the U.K"... I don't personally know anyone whose had it in a year or more & speak to people all over the U.K & ROI on a daily basis & no one has made mention of it either. I think the novelty / fear factor has worn off now.

The pharmaceutical companies want to sell their Vaccines that don't work, and very boring people like Chris Whitty enjoyed being rock starts for a while.

Plus the media like to blow every tiny thing out of all proportion and frighten everyone so you haven't see the end of this.

Plus I suspect a significant proportion of people loved lockdown and loved Furlough so would be all up for a return.

Its not that it ever went away: like the flu, its encemic snd here to stay. Some will get it, and should stay in bed ( like you used to with the flu), and others wont.

Its also not that people are being tested: its data collected from waste water

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/monitor...

A prediction: this data will get more "accurate" and enable governments to, effectively quarantine an area, or block of people, on this data alone. It wont matter if nobody has symptons- the data shows area x and area y are infected, so stay at home.

This wont be in the UK of course.

My daughter has it and is struggling to get back to 100%.

Lots of people I know and work with over the last few weeks have also had it.

It’s just another thing to live with.
