Hi all

I have recently had 3 fillings. One apparently quite deep.

First time I've ever had fillings, and I'm 41 years old.

The filling at the top back, is causing my bite to not meet anywhere but on that filling. Like it's too high.

I had then done yesterday and returned today to get it checked, and she filed a VERY small amount off. I bit again and said I still only hit there when I bite, all my other teeth have a gap.

She said to me that she can't do any more or it will break the filling.

So now I've come away with pretty much the same issue. My bite doesn't meet on any teeth but that one. It's like a 2mm gap all round.

She told me to wait 2 weeks.

Is this normal? Will my bite return to normal? I can't chew food properly at the moment and it bloomin hurts.

As I said, first ever fillings so this could all be normal.

Any advice appreciated!

Give it a while to get used to it. You won't notice after a few days.

If on the other hand you do still notice it, go back and tell her to do it properly smile

Thanks guys.

Managed to eat some beans on toast. Good enough for now. Still very frustrating that the only tooth that connects when I bite is the filling. Just want to chew my food!

I'll give it a few days and see how it is.

Definitely give it time - I had a filling a couple of weeks ago when I broke a tooth - I was convinced it would need to be reworked, as I felt it was compromising my ability to bite food - now I don't notice it at all.

Don't accept it if it's too bad though - I had to have a filling adjusted when it meant I could no longer bite tape as my incisors would not meet!

Whenever I have had bite problems with fillings - when I have gone back they have filed a bit away and its gone back to normal almost straight away.

So whilst wait and see if fine - don't leave it too long.
