So me, the Mrs and a mate have all decided to go for the Isle of Wight Ultra 100k over 2 days in May 2024.

Just wondering if anyone has done this challenge before? Looks quite amazing views-wise. We are keen walkers, but this is the first of its kind for all of us.

Any tips anyone can share for such a distance over 2x days? Aside from the usual footwear tips etc. (unless they're truly unique!).

Cheers!

My wife has done a couple of the 100K ultra challenges, not IoW. though one of her friends has done it. I have done 50K with the same organisers.

Have you done other events with that organiser? They seem very good, great organisation, food (lots of) and logistics were first class. They also have a specialised blister taping up service.

There is a facebook page with lots of good advice.

- minimise what you carry, water and food is available regularly at checkpoints and you can leave bags halfway with spare clothes and shoes. Avoid unnecessary kg
- have a good headtorch that runs on old fashioned batteries and a second spare if you are going through the night
- train using the gear you will take on the event, obvious for footwear, but clothes can rub over that distance
- The route is clearly signposted with luminous pink signs so you don't need to drain your phone battery with fancy route tracking apps.
- 100k is more willpower, mind over pain than pure fitness I'm told - that's why I have only done 50K!
