Anyone got a recommendation for a lightweight foldable wheelchair that could easily be chucked in the boot of a taxi?
My dad really can’t walk far any more, so something his wife could use to push him round in would be a help.

Ideally nothing that needs to be taken to bits - just quick release catches.

Thanks

Go to a mobility shop and take a look.

You'll want big wheels, easier to push, the wheels will come off with a push of the button for stowage. A pressure cushion as a minimum. Check the size too, it needs to be comfortable but narrower is lighter and easier to manoeuvre.

You can get electrically assisted too, but heavier and more complicated.

Once you've decided, have a look online for the best prices.

I’d second going to a mobility shop to try a few.

Got a Karma soma agile a couple of years ago for my parents, the transit version. Not the absolute lightest. Never had to take the wheels off, the back folds to make it a bit more compact. I do take the foot rests off to fit in the boot of mums Yaris, they have some big easy catches. One of the reasons I got it was it rolls really easily.

If your dad can walk a bit might be worth looking for a rollator/wheelchair, walker wheelchair. I only came aware of them after I got the wheelchair, at the time probably would have been a better option. Something like this :

The transit chair we had was fihe on a smooth floor, but a bugger for kerbs, steps or uneven pavement.

https://www.nrshealthcare.com/wheelchair/ try these guys, I`ve used them for lots of equipment, very efficient service, and you will qualify for VAT free.

Remember your parents occupational therapist may be able to supply one for free, mine did along with all the other stuff in my home.
