I am now getting so fed up with this. A common injury with little actual "how is it in every day life" advice it seems to be.

I had mine plated back together about 16 months ago, had access to Pubmed and google scholar so read all the papers before hand,

I still would have the op done as I have full mobility, strength and original physiological construct back in my clavicle that I had before my accident. All the research said that a significant minority of patients would have the metalwork removed due to pain, I won't do that as I don't want to lie on the table again along with its risks, BUT how long before this stops hurting enough to change your lifestyle habits and enjoy pastimes?

Sample size of 1 but had mine plated twice, second time I was back playing rugby after about 10-12 weeks. Only annoyance is that there's not much feeling on the skin on that side of my body due to two ops. I'd say after that long you need to be back talking to the surgeon/ physios about what's gone on

Mine got snapped in half when younger and nothing was done by the docs. I now have 1 fused big ball of bone that sticks up. Doesn't cause any issues whatsoever

Mine was plated back in 2007, a big scar but within 2 weeks I felt nothing of the plate.

I still regularly do heavy work and have still never felt an ounce of pain.

Dave!
