Show us your home gym setup
Discussion
We've had the 'show us your garage' thread, now it's time for the gym to get some attention.
I am busy renovating one of our outbuildings into a new gym. I have a plan already, and we had a decent smaller setup in our previous house, but still looking for ideas. Any things you would change or wish you'd added before all the kit went in? At minimum we will be putting in a treadmill, heavy bag, gymnastic rings and squat rack. I want to leave plenty of floor space for bodyweight stuff too. Total area is around 9m x 4m, so not huge, but a decent enough area to work with.

Given the stunning response to the thread I'd thought I'd update all the keen followers! Here's what we started with...
And here is pretty much where we are now. Hoping to have it painted and the floor in by next weekend, then start humping the kit up the hill from the garage and various rooms in the house.
It is still going to be very rustic, with no heating, and at the moment no power, but that is coming.

Looks great. Keen to see how it looks when done.
I wouldn’t worry about the heating though. Just work harder
To be honest, I would be happy with no power either, her treadmill is the only bit of kit which needs it, and is her only non-negotiable item. The Electricity company have quoted about £1k for a new connection if I do the ground work, which doesn't seem too outrageous.I wouldn’t worry about the heating though. Just work harder

Cool. What make of flooring have you used?
The concrete floor was already sealed from my time actually using it as a garage, to get to how it is now I laid down 10mm thick stable mats with wood effect lino over the top. Its not durable enough to drop weights on, like some do in the gym, but its held up well for the best part of a year now.Brainpox said:
This is our very functional setup. It’s in the shed so limited on space. Flooring is 2.5mx2.5m here with a small area where I’m standing for floor work. Added a combo bar and a whiteboard since this photo. Will get a mirror at some point I’m sure.
That’s a big old shed. Where are those tiles from?Brainpox said:
Yeah previous owner used a summer house as a workshop. They are 20mm from Fitness Superstore.

Finished last week. Still got her treadmill to move, and power and lighting to install, but useable for me!
Another cracking setup on here. Looking for mats to cover a small area, roughly 2.5m x 2.5m but I’m on a budget. Any recommendations folks?
