I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had the op a week ago and wondered whether others had experience of the same process, the doc has said walking is fine but 12 weeks before any heavy lifting, the main risk seems to be hernia due to the incisions in the abdomen.
My usual routine is a sort of 5x5 session twice a week (plus rowing / cycling etc), I don’t want to be cavalier and cause myself problems, but on the other hand 12 weeks without training is going to drive me crazy.
I’ve started to wonder whether some isolation exercises that don’t stress the core might be possible after say 8 weeks, preacher curls, seated lat raises, unweighted step ups, that sort of thing.
Anybody have experience of going through the same process?
Thanks
G

It was a robotic procedure, which I guess is keyhole, 6 small incisions.

No individualised advice over the internet, but personally I don't tell patients to have that long off exercise after keyhole surgery. I say light exercise after 2 or 3 weeks, avoid heavy lifting or straining for 6 weeks. Stop if it hurts.

Thanks, that sounds a bit more manageable (mentally), I’ll start light after 6 weeks and see how it goes.
