So am currently in Utah, and had some amazing fun on a Skidoo 600R yesterday.

However i hit a bank with a bit much gusto and ended up doing a superman on landing and smashing my helmet into the bars, which resulted in me biting my tongue.

As per these well timed photo's....

But i now have a flap on the front of my tongue, its not overly painful, but really annoying and hard to eat - as the flat wants to go between the teeth.

Should this sort on its own? or will i need to get it removed?

Its hard to get a pic of the flap, but this is it:

Cheers

I had one worse than that recently. It looked like I had a forked tongue. Over a period of time it sorted itself out, picturesque it was not, but now you wouldn't know. I thought it was a hospital job at first.

The tongue is very clever at fixing itself, it's probably the 'quickest' healing part of the body.

Leave it, keep your mouth clean and all will be good.

You'll learn to live with it.

When I was nine I fell off a wall and cracked a tooth and bit a flap into my tongue. Not a huge one, and it was in the middle, but I still have it today. Completely forgot about it until this thread reminded me.

Dare I say I think you will need to get it removed by a doc.

A fair while ago - 2000? - I rode my bike into the back of a Fiesta shaped car (I was looking sideways at a nice car in the distance, not looking where I was going) - the impact of my bike stopping rather suddenly caused my tongue to stick out, then the sloped rear windcreen slammed my jaw shut, before I slid up the back window and onto the roof.

I surprised the passenger of the car as I slid off the roof, down the passenger window, leaving a nice red trail.

The impact broke my teeth off, as well as leaving a good flap of tongue sticking up, about 1,5 cm back from the front. Doctor could not do stitches as there was nothing to tie the stitch into, and he said it would heal itself.

To this day I still have that flap of tongue that I can feel as a loose-ish flap with my teeth.

Yes, my bike frame was broken, yes I wished I had worn a go-pro, would have made a fortune!

This - being epileptic, I have bitten my tongue on many occasions.

It is horribly painful and uncomfortable, but heals very quickly.

You might want to try salt water morning and night . Avoid smoking and alcohol. No rich foods , snogging, or any form of exertion. Enjoy your holiday.

Sorry, I miss read your post, agree with the others, rinse out with some salty water, then continue your holiday full on, I wouldn't slow my drinking etc. Your mileage may vary.

When you get back, then look into getting it fixed if it is still bugging you!

Some wobbler moved my chair from my desk when I was 7/8 when reading to the teacher. Came back to sit down and my chin hit the desk, my teeth went straight through my tongue leaving a hole.

Claret everywhere, I had to go to hospital to get dissolvable stitches in there. Hope yours clears up soon!
