Had an ulcer on the side of my tongue for 5 days now, does seem to heal a bit but I keep catching it on my teeth which is prolonging it. It's not that big but the pain goes to my ear and throat so eating is not a very enjoyable experience at the moment. Not having much luck with salt water rinses. What can I use to help it heal? Bonjela?

My dentist says swishing with aspirin, worked for me, or if you don't mind smelling like an OAP tcp normally does the job.

If you suffer from on a regular basis vitamin b12 can be helpful to some people.

There used to be a product in the chemist called Frador which was brilliant at sorting ulcers. Purple stuff which hurt like hell but cured the ulcer in 24 hours. It is still available, I believe, but seems to be a watered down version which is pretty useless.

I haven't had an ulcer for years, but found that swilling with brandy helped.

If it doesn't heal, get to the GP. Don't want to worry you, but my friend's ulcer turned out to be terminal cancer.

Stop tea and coffee, avoid fizzy drinks, drink fresh water and hydrate, try sea salt as well

Rest half a pickled onion on it for a few mins,
It’ll be gone next day,
We’ve done this a few times ;-)

Put a hens egg in your left pocket after the sun goes down and walk around your car twice OR attend A&E NOW, insist on bloods and an immediate second opinion.

Thanks I’ll wait another week or 2 before seeing my dentist. Read some pretty scary stuff online!

I swear by corsodyl mouthwash for any ulcers. Typically sorts mine within 24 hours.

Iglu gel and multivitamins (particularly vitamin D at this time of year).

I suffered from regular painful mouth and tongue ulcers and my life was changed by my dentist's advice. He suggested taking an iron supplement, the cheapest way being a daily multivitamin with iron. I use Tesco or Superdrug and take advantage of their regular 3 for 2 offers, so costing 1p or 2p a day. From getting ulcers at least once a month, I now get fewer than 1 a year. Hope this helps anyone reading this thread.

I'd get it checked out, saw on TV the other day, one of the lasses from Bucks Fizz have something similar. They ended up chopping half of her tongue off and replacing it with muscle from her leg.

I’ve suffered with ulcers all my life, doctors, dentists have looked at all sorts with no luck.

I think I’ve stumbled across the cause for me, the toothpastes that are more of a gel rather than traditional paste will give me an ulcer within a day of using it.

I’ve stuck with the traditional paste for the last year and the only ulcers I’ve had have been from me trying a gel type toothpaste out of curiosity, I’m confident that’s the cause now.
