Angina and Statins
Discussion
Hi all
Had a pain in my chest and after a trip to see doctors and having a ECG have been diagnosed with angina and given a spray to carry in case I have another episode.
They recommended statins but I said I would have to research taking them, who on here can give any advice/pros/cons and educate me before I make a decision.
Thanks in advance

Had angina for nearly 30 years, and also taking statins for the same length of time.
Neither have been a problem to me, never had any side effects, although the Angina spray can give you a headache until you get used to it. "Touch wood" haven't had to use my spray very often in the last 15 years.
They control different problems the spray "GTN" Glycerol Tri Nitrate assists the Angina, whilst the Statins help to control Cholesterol (Fats in the blood).
HTH.

I had two heart ops 8 years ago to fit 5 stents - 2 in the first op and then 3 more two months later.
I was prescribed a daily dose of Aspirin. Ramipril, Bisoprolol Fumarate and Astorostatin 80mg. I was also prescribed a Trinitrate spray to carry at all times - just in case.
Not had any side effects apart from an occasional dry throat - possibly caused by the Ramipril. Now feel much fitter and no heart symptoms at all. Luckily not had to use the spray - but Dr advises it is best to have to hand at all times just in case.
