Around Christmas time I caught that awful bug/cold that seemingly everyone had and although I wasn't too ill it did seem to drag on. Turned into some sort of sinus infection but didn't need antibiotics. Still have an occasional cough but what's annoying me is the snot especially in the mornings. It's mainly clear but sometimes tinge of yellow. Is there any way I can make it go away or just a case of waiting?

I've had this mate, it is probably the adenoids and nasal repairing.

You could try steaming regular to get the bulk of it out your sinus's.

If the snots going clear its just still clearing out the infection.

I have it, dragging on too! I use a nasal rinse solution, works wonders. I use it regular anyway due to chronic sinusitis. Could be worth exploring for you.

Cheers chaps. I’m wondering if it could be the infection still lingering. May try to get a telephone appointment with my GP.

Nah, it’s just the tail end of the cold. As I said, I have it still. The rinse kits work wonders.

GP won’t really offer anything as they only prescribe when the snot is green/yellow as it indicates bacterial infection. Clear is just residual snot from the cold infection.

I started with the lurgy the first week of December, finally felt rid of (coughed up) the remnants at the start of last week...

Mine started mid December, same symptoms as described by everyone. I now only have the persistent cough remaining. As a consequence SWMBO insisted that I went to see the GP. He is sure that it is just the final effects of the virus - but as it has been ongoing for so long, I'm now booked in for a chest x-ray. Protocol apparently!
