Last night a 2p tea on elbow was hurting, but by 10pm it was massive a squidgy.

ive had sinus infections so was worried about strep and went to the doctors fo the diagnosis.

I suspect this is set inflicted as I played a few holes of golf Sunday on hard ground and practice mats and the the gym yesterday as I felt fine.

Anyone had this? sounds like I might need it drained if ab's dont sort it and be out for a few weeks of high impact on it.

Had one of these a couple of years ago after knocking my elbow on something now forgotten. I never felt anything at the time or later just suddenly realised that it was there. Had a phone appointment with the doctor having sent her a photograph. She said that it was bursitis and it would probably disappear without problem; it did, after a few weeks. Hope yours does the same

I had one a couple of years ago - no specific reason why it happened. Also diagnosed as bursitis by the GP via a couple of photos, gone within 2 weeks and a course of antibiotics.

I had Achilles bursitis a few years a go and it was bloody awful and took a few days of doing very little for it to calm down and maybe 2 weeks to fully settle down. No idea what caused it.

Had something similar a few years ago on my elbow which a few days later quickly became a squidgy mess but not particularly painful. After getting hassled by my work colleagues to go to the docs, saw the GP who referred me straight to hospital and was kept in for 4/5 days while being treated with an antibiotic drip. I was 'let out ' on condition I returned every morning for 14 days for the antibiotics from the infectious diseases Dr. It didn't go away and ended up having surgery to drain the elbow/area around it and cut out the infected flesh. It has been fine ever since.
I would therefore recommend that if it doesn't go then keep hassling your GP. Mine went from being squidgy lump to the size of a tennis ball overnight. It can spread quite quickly and be quite serious/difficult to treat - and if it carries on don't ignore it like I did !

This is my worry and yes I'm monitoring It daily for growth, I've got fluoxcillin 4 times a day for 10 days.

After a day of AB's im not sure if its itchy as its repairing or if this is spreading. I was also getting high temps and sweats last night.

How did you get it you think?

Not that this is of particular use to the specific problem, but based on my experience, and if you are in a similar situation, change from a mouse to a trackball.

I never did find out where I got it but I was doing a desk job at the time and always used to lean on my left arm/elbow whilst working for maybe 6+ hours a day. It was the left elbow that was affected so I believe this had something to do with it.
To see if it was spreading, my GP drew a line on my arm and told me that if the redness/swelling touched the line then to call 999/go to A&E. I remember it did swell up and do this overnight but I just went back to the GP the next day ( a few years ago so you could quite easily get an appointment ) , was told off for not ringing 999 and she arranged for me to be admitted. I also started feeling a bit unwell as the swelling increased.
I am not a medical professional but if you're not sure whether it's spreading/have other symptoms then best to get it checked out again as you don't want it to turn into something even more serious - you can ring 111 for advice these days 24 hours a day - they are very good from my experience with other medical issues. When I got to hospital the thing burst overnight ( it refilled itself pretty quickly ) and they moved me to a side room so as not to infect other patients ! . . . . . .. .
They told me I had developed septic bursitis when I asked why I had to to to hospital, probably due to my own stupidity in not seeking advice quicker.

I've not had two full days on AB's yet so going to give it until tomorrow as the redness does seem to be growing. I've just drawn a line and if it grows I'll call doctor.

It's going to need a drain off I think after the course of AB's.

Thanks for the input.

Try acupuncture, works for me when I get it. Didn't believe it till I had it done for the first time.

Thank mate.

So day 5/6 and it's now slowly improving.

Its feeling rather itchy than painful so must be on the slow mend.

Night sweats have reduced, wednesday/thurs was horrendous, I was absolutely soaked.

Poorly with a temperature, for me, is an indication to admit to hospital for iv antibiotics.

I try very hard not to operate on these as they take forever to heal when you do.

Temps now gone, I've got until Wednesday until I find out what is going to happen through the quack.

I just hope it doesn't take long for me to get back to normal.

Thought I'd update after 3 weeks.

The AB's finished last week and the inflammation and fluid has reduced down to minimal now.

Doctors I use has a messaging system, sending a picture (4 days before he responded) he said he thought It looked inflamed and I may need more AB's. I've decided not to as its getting better and reducing down.

It's a slow recovery and the tenderness is now more like the funny elbow feeling.
