Had Americans tells me they’re grand parents had dentals implants for years, really annoys me. Mine lasted (back tooth) three months and cost around 3k. Is there a way to find a renowned uk dentist that gets excellent implant results? (I want to be prepared with someone to go to when I need this treatment. )

Why did your previous implant fail? You might want to post which area of the country you are looking in as well.

This. I'd have gone back to the dentist who fitted it and get them to address the failure.

London or further out if high success ratio.

I had one around 8 years ago with some Scottish guy (off a Colgate advert, he led me to believe he was competent), he was a visiting surgeon to the dentist practice I go to so no come back. I didn’t think anything of it until an American told me one of their grandparents had successful implants 30 years ago.

I wholewheartedly recommend the dentist above. I had an implant 10 years ago and its done me just fine ever since. You do have to look after your implant though!

I used Dr Mike Ainsworth

I've been very satisfied with his work. Had a front tooth done in 2019. Quite a protracted time line about 6 months and several appointments. I'm on 2 yearly checks.

Mike is very easy to get on with

Sameer Mohamed of Mawsley Dental Clinic, near Kettering Northants.

Following a crown from probably 30 years ago breaking off and taking the stump with it i needed a pair of implants side by side.
I use Mawsley as my normal NHS dentist, an excellent dental practice, and they had me see Sameer with a view to having implants.

I have nothing but admiration for the man, he's friendly and amusing as well as highly competent, i have a terrible gag reflex which has only got worse with age and normal mouth X rays prove impossible, Sameer worked around all of the issues and the two implants went perfectly, 3 years later they are still perfect.

Normally a clay mould of your teeth is taken, this proved impossible due to my gagging issues, at no extra cost Sameer had a colleague map my mouth with some sort of electronic pen type device instead (haven't a clue what the term is) which then translated to a perfect multi dimensional picture of my teeth on a laptop and the tech made the new caps from that, perfect fit first time.

In terms of value, its expensive, the two implants cost me just shy of £5k which was about typical far as i could tell, some chaps i know have gone to various eastern european countries or Turkey and had extensive work performed at what would appear to be a fraction of the UK cost, i'm not that brave and haven't gone into the pros and cons.
