Not asking for advice as such, but more of a public service announcement from me.

Generally, I'm very skeptical about supplements, herbal remedies, and even vitamins etc. I don't really consider anything worthy unless you have to ask for it over the counter at a pharmacy or via a prescription...

But I'm totally convinced by Echinacea. A work colleague swears by it, and convinced me to try it. So around 14 months ago I bought a tub of tablets and I take a few tablets each week during winter, and if I feel the early signs of a cold (tickle/dry feeling in throat/nose etc) then I start taking the recommended dose for a few days until the symptoms have passed.

I am now fully convinced after 14 months that it stops me developing anything that resembles a full blown snotty cold, which used to be a really annoying occurrence for me during the winter months.

Give it a try smile

Any other cold and flu suggestions welcome, because I absolutely hate colds!

I find megadosing on the effervescent Vit C tablets works well!

When I feel a cold coming on, have two of them a day in a pint of water and it seems to clear up quite quick.

My wife swears by echinacea as a preventative measure to avoid colds too. This stems from her 20 years as a primary school teacher dealing with snotty germ infested children day in day out.

Yep. I'm really impressed. It seems to be the one thing that actually works, for me anyway.

I still do get mild sniffles now and again, what feels like the early stage of a cold, but since using it, none of these sniffles have actually turned into a proper rotten cold.

About 12 months ago I tried Vics First Defence Nasal Spray, which in a similar fashion, you are supposed to spray up your nose on the first sign of a cold starting. Never ever again. It felt like someone had sprayed acid mixed with pepper spray up my nose and into my brain. It was one of the worst things I have ever experienced. Thought I must have done something wrong, but went and looked at the reviews on Amazon and there were loads of people complaining about the same thing. Awful. It took nearly a full day to for me to feel right again.
