I constantly feel cold when I'm at work or out and about. It seems that I feel it more than most. I feel it down to my bones on some days. It's not even proper winter yet! Why is this?

I see a lot of people during my train commute across London, and none of them appear to be wrapped up especially warm. I saw a guy in a pair of shorts earlier! I'm wearing a pair of trousers, thick socks, a t-shirt, jumper, and a jacket. I should probably switch to a winter coat...

Nope, never feel cold, swimming everyday in the English Channel in a pair of shorts does wonder for heat regulation. Start by having a cold shower in the mornings, just begin with a few seconds then work up.

It's probably because the OP isn't sleeping in seriously very cold, 11degree bedrooms laugh

This was one of my first symptoms when I look back of being hypothyroid.

I’m not saying you’re the same but worth mentioning to a doctor as there are many medical reasons that could be causing this.

Definite rise in the number of people you see on cold mornings etc wearing just a t shirt.

But most of them are porkers i.e. self insulated hence no coat required.

Just been through this, or in process. Lost all temp control in the cold, didn't matter what I did.

Blood works fine - changed diet now and added iron/zinc/b12 vitamins and fingers crossed seems to be easing off.

I still see people less wrapped up than me, but at least I am not a miserable shivering wreck all the time now.

Possibly lack of getting out and doing some proper exercise.

I feel the cold if I'm at my desk at home or watching TV.

I marvell at people who say they have their central heating set at 18C - even with a sweat-shirt on it needs to be at 21C for me to feel comfortable, and 22C is better.

I'm OK if moving around - for instance I can wash the car on a chilly day and I'm fine once I get going.

I've always been the same. Only thing I've noticed, especially when working at home, is it's more noticeable if I'm hungry,

As the Gman said, it is a symptom of hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's.

It's easy to medicate with Levothyroxin, but unfortunately doesn't hugely help with not feeling the cold.

Improving circulation/metabolic rate through exercise does temporarily help.

this. I find that the more exercise, cold baths/showers I have.. the better my tolerance to cold.

I’ve been on levothyroxine for years now, I’d say after about 6 months of getting the doses right I certainly don’t feel the cold like I did before the meds, made a big difference to me.

Another hypothyroid (hashis) here, I finally got prescribed T3 (liothyronine) this year for mine & i'm like a different person, particularly body temp/feeling cold, I couldn't remember the last time I'd not worn socks to bed & if I kicked them off it was enough to wake me up, even 2021 I didn't switch to a light duvet or sheet during the summer, & fingerless gloves for a lot of spring, autumn & winter. This year I had months with a fan on & light sheet overnight, I feel like i've had a complete reset.

Also worth getting vitamin D & vitamin B12 levels checked OP

Yes Reynaud's really sucks, my hands particularly the left feel like they are from a frozen crypt, hurts like a bd when they really start throbbing.

Reynauds - Wife suffered terrible with this when we met 20 years ago. She had an operation to remove some nodes(?) near her spine (?) and the problem is solved. Worth asking your Doc about.

The OP certainly ran away from his thread well enough, maybe died of hypothermia biggrin
