Had root canal surgery on a tooth last Thursday, was in 'mild' pain till Friday night and i just thought well it's probably just because they've been howking around in there and it's just residual pain.
So ever since then till just now the pain has ramped up to intense pain 24/7,all over the weekend, can't sleep the pain is just consuming me.
So desperate i went into the dentist today and pleaded for either pain relief or antibiotics,oh sir,you have to phone at 8.30am and hope you get an appointment??
I'm in excruciating pain here, wtf am i meant to do??
I can't get antibiotics over the counter at chemists etc, anyone any tips to source some pills that will work? Thanks.

Clove oil will offer temporary respite if you can get it...

I've had a few root canals done and never had any pain afterwards, just wonder if a part of the nerve is still intact...

You need to get back in the chair and have it checked...

As said, co-codamol 30/500 is what you need. If that doesn't work, you might need to get some Tramadol. I've had three root canals and a tooth out without any pain so there is something not quite going on. Did he/she dam your mouth and bleach the infection?

Rang the local dentist practice in Kalkan Turkey today, had an appointment at 11.30., After an examination and a X-ray told me as I already knew had an infection in my gum. Teeth were ok. Advised to carry on with my antibiotics, rinse mouth with salt water and to floss my teeth regularly.

Have to admit I’ve let that go since had 2 cancelled routine appointments at my local nhs dentist. So very relieved no treatment needed.

Appointment / Examination was free…..
X Ray was 350tl……. £17.50

Can’t complain at all……👍

Having had several root canal treatments over the years I've never had an post complications other than perhaps localised tenderness in the area.

I'll defer to an expert but it sounds like something else is going on that needs looking at. NHS dentists will give out prescriptions for antibiotics and strong painkillers without an examination if you've had treatment with them and waiting for a follow up in the usual backlog.

I use orajel benzocaine. £3.50 for a little tube in supermarkets. Excellent stuff, replicates that numb mouth feeling you get walking out of the dentist after a few injections.

So,pain was unbearable and demanded to get the tooth extracted asap(now 2 days ago),complete and utter waste of time.It was a molar at the top,top of the tooth broke off, then left with parts of tooth they had to seperate up with their drill to try and extract the roots seperately.
Roots, there was another story, she kept showing surprise at the forms of the two roots she managed to get out,one was split in two and both stems headed off in different directions!,second root had a hook at it's base, she got that out too,but the third one,the straightest and most normal looking of them all failed to come out, despite 3 dentists having a go!!
Felt like a comedy sketch, they just kept coming in and queueing up the corridor to have a go!So the result is i'm missing a tooth, one root left in and i'm in absolute f*cking agony!!Worse pain than before, and everywhere!Pain killers supposed to be for post operative pain are doing nowt, probably better off taking Haribos,it's Diclofenac?
Utterly miserable!
