Hello

Arrived in Turkey a few days ago and a back tooth has started giving me grief. I've previously had a filling a couple of years ago. Ended up with pain killers. I've come over to a small Greek island for a couple of days and it's got worse. Went to see the doctor and I asked for a prescription for Amoxicillin.

Been taking these for nearly 48 hrs now , 1 @ 500mg 3 times a day . Doesn't seem to be getting any better although only 2 days in of a 6 day course.

Was hoping it would settle down untill I get home in 12 days time , I've made an appointment with my dentist straight away . Head now feels woozy . Am I likely to have to see a dentist for treatment here in Turkey before the antibiotics work ?

Dont want the tooth just pulling out, but if it has to be, then I would want an implant and new tooth fitted .

I will be in the Fethiye area from Wednesday onwards where there are several cosmetic surgeries with good reviews where I've provisionally made an appointment but would rather bee seen at home ....

Lots of people go to Turkey for cosmetic work. I would say they will do a good enough job to see you through your holiday and your dentist can tidy you up if needed when you get home.

It will take at least three days for the medication to have any real impact on your abscess. Personally unless it's excruciating I'd wait and get it sorted out back home.

Does it come and go? Is it throbbing pain? Gets worse with hit, cold or both? What about chewing? Any swelling present or restriction to jaw opening?

If most of those you are likely to have an irreversible pulpitis. Treatment would be root filling if tooth is restorable or extraction. Emergency to get rid of the pain is opening tooth and dressing it.
