Unfortunately the only advice I can offer is to cut back on alcohol. It does exacerbate it.

Find a specialist, I was only properly diagnosed as the local GP is opposite a hospital/care home (the type with no A&E or theatres) and they knew one of the Drs there would see me as skin was "his thing". Needs a specialist, skin apparently is not very well understood.

Got me some cream which kept it at bay mostly, now I don't need to bother, strongly suspect it was stress related, certainly haven't altered my alcohol consumption, he did say that was a trigger but also sometimes made no difference.

Go and see a dermatologist. I wouldn’t trust a GP on that sort of thing. Sure it isn’t seborrheic dermatitis?

I had a similar situation a couple of years ago. Tried cutting out all potential aggressors that I could find information about online, made no difference. Spoke to my GP and was prescribed a light antibiotic gel called Metrogel, cleared it right up in about 3 weeks. Hasn't been back since.

Assuming you mean Rosacea, it's a really really annoying condition. The cream does work but you have to keep using it. Antibiotics work too if you are given them.

All sorts of things seem to trigger it for different people. Stress is probably a common one. Alcohol maybe, especially red wine. Red fruits, chocolate, maybe even hot drinks like tea and coffee. Will probably take some time to work out what to avoid. But I'd say stress is a big one.

Welcome to my world!

Rosacea comes in many forms and ranges from mild to nasty. Mine manifested in nasty spots along my hairline and around my nose. Acceptable as a 15 year old. Less so at 45 when I was diagnosed.

Six weeks of antibiotics made a huge improvement and has kept in check ever since. I have a tube of Rozex cream if I do get a bit of a flare up.

As you might expect, the healthier your lifestyle, the less the rosacea. As already mentioned, booze can be a trigger. With me beer's less of an issue than wine and sprits.

It'll never go away but is perfectly manageable.

Thanks everyone for your input, think I'll go see a specialist as the docs are trying to diagnose the condition via pictures as they are so busy to actually see patients
