Can anyone suggest a protein shake that isn't cloyingly sweet?
I've tried Bulk and MyProtein (chocolate and chocolate peanut favours) but they always seem really sweet, despite having hardly any carbs.
Making my own would be a bit of a faff.

I had some MyProtein chocolate peanut years back and threw it away, it was so horrid.

You have to get the Unflavoured.

I don't use protein shakes so much anymore. But when I do I use pea protein, a banana, some spinach and some berries. Possibly some peanut butter if I am hungry.

But yes, it does require the effort of using a blender.

I use the Bulk Vanilla informed whey protein, which I don't find to be overly sweet.

Unflavoured. Add a banana or berries and blend.

thanks all.
I'll finish the last packet then make my own - or maybe just use unflavoured plus a bit of cocoa powder.

I use unflavoured protein powder (pea at the moment). I then use frozen fruit to flavour it or I use cacao and coffee and make a mocha. Add whatever you like and sweeten to taste

I quite like the clear whey from myprotein now, might be worth getting a sample.

When I used protein shakes I couldn't stand any of the sweet ones so just used MyProtein unflavoured. Im no body builder but I thought the world would end If I stopped using them but it's made sod all difference. In fact it's forced me to improve my diet. The final straw was when the prices went crazy. At the time it was £57 for a 2.5kg bag. Sod that for a bag of dust!

Unflavoured - down as quick as possible - have a glass of water ready afterwards to get rid of the taste.

My protein - I always have 2 bags on the go. One flavoured, one unflavoured. I pour some of each into tub. You can change the ratio to taste.

I agree that the flavoured stuff by itself it way over sweetened.

Proteinworks has some decent flavours, don't find the flavoured ones too sweet at all.

Has anyone tried Optimum Nutrition double rich chocolate?

I have some of the myprotein stuff and it just does not need to be anywhere near as sweet as it is. Have seen a few comments on Reddit saying this ON product is much better.

In the past I've mixed flavoured with unflavoured to tone them down. Now I use vanilla protein (1/2 scoop) with quark blended.

Not sure if it's my taste, but most brands seem sweeter these days.

Yeah that used to be my go-to, was probably the best flavour they did and I don't think it was as sweet as others no. Quite a rich flavour actually. Maybe worth a try?

It’s a winner, still sweet but not overly so, like an acceptable chocolate milk. That was 31g in about 200ml of milk vs. the myprotein ste at 25g in 300ml- where it was still sickly.

Would definitely recommend if you’ve tried myprotein and found it way too much.

Dump the protein shakes and eat more actual food. Eggs, beef etc.
