The shakes post sweet food
Discussion
OK I don't take any sugar normally at all. No chocolate, no sugar in my tea. Nothing. I've even stopped eating yoghurts.
I drink beer, wine still.
So if I have something, a muffin etc within an hour I can suffer the shakes, feel hideous.
It's worsened the effects if I've not eaten anything for a few hours. Like today. Lunch at 1. 4pm 1 yoghurt. 5pm hideous crash(?), felt lousy.
Am I some form or pre-diabetic or something else?

I think you might want to read things like this -

and get an appointment with your GP for some tests.

I used to get this. I found taking iron supplements did the trick. Decent ones, from the chemist. 1 a day. I drink beer, wine still.

OP, I've had exactly what you've described for about the last 5 years now. To start off with, it was everytime I went out for a meal and had a dessert I'd get the same symptoms you've described. Drinking tea, coffee & even decaf coffee has a similar result now, and I also suffer from reactive hypoglycaemia at seemingly random times, but generally a few hours after a carb heavy lunch.
Having gone through my GP and had various tests done, they couldn't find anything wrong with me, and in the end my GP just put it down to my sensitivity to sugar/salt/caffeine etc, changing as I'm getting older. Given 10 years ago, I would drink 3-4 cups of tea/coffee each day, eat as much sugary food as I liked & exercise for 2-3 hours with just drinking water, all with no noticeable effect, I do find it odd how my tolerances have changed so significantly.
I've not had any advice since seeing the GP 4-5 years ago, and just manage it myself now.
I'd definitely go see your GP though, just to make sure there's nothing untoward going on.

So I've been on iron tablets for the third day now, possibly too early to kick in... but nothing. No shakes.
I've also been perkier.
I must admit I donated blood 3 weeks ago but why should that mean anything?
If you're borderline anaemic and then donate blood you'll feel worse I guess?I've also been perkier.
